My new On-line Coach ! I am also left handed, golfing Right. (approximate same age, and beard as well) ! For decades, we were told by the greats that it's all about the left arm, and the right arm just goes along for the ride. Now, with internet videos and new fangled tech. , we see a more Hoganestique swing with LOTS of right arm participation. My right arm has a lot to learn! THANK YOU

Good luck jmack. Sounds like you’re about the right age for a massive improvement in your golf. Ps the beard could just be the thing to help.

An excellent demonstration Peter of an exercise we can use to get our weight transfer right! I know that I sometime "hang back" on the right side and don't get my weight through properly to the left side. Your exercise should help to eliminate this situation!

Peter, I am really finding your instruction very beneficial. You calmly explain everything in a very clear and relaxed manner and so I find it easy to take in all that you say. I think a lot more people would benefit by subscribing to your channel. Regards

For me it’s the most important part of my swing. When I don’t get the pressure shift correct I’m all over the place. Big hooks with the driver and big slices with the long irons. When the pressure shift is on, my shots are much more controlled.

I solved this hitting off the back foot or not shifting consistently to the left side on the down swing by telling myself to hit the ball with your back to the target…. It’s just a swing thought but it effectively allows you to shift onto your left side while slotting your club into the correct position. This now gives me crisp straight shots. I even have a sore area under my left heel now since I never really transferred weight properly.

Nice thought. Feeling like you’re keeping your back to the target prevents turning too soon.

This has really helped to confirm my feelings that the pressure goes before the movement so thank you for that! I thought you were also going to do something with that rope on the ground ? I have a rope like that so of there is a drill that adds to this I’d love to use it please thanks Rob

Thanks Rob. Here’s a link I did to a video using a rope. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2raZJWPnqihldE

Hi Peter. Ive always found it difficult,when shifting weight on downswing, to NOT move the entire body simultaneously. Would a good trigger be to wait for that point when the hips reach say 45 degrees ???
@PeterKnightGolf10 ай бұрын
The movement should be continuous. Thinking about the lower body beginning to move to the target when the hips have turned about 45° in the backswing is a pretty good thought. If your body moves forward a little bit, that’s okay. The hips will of course move much further toward the target in the downswing than the upper body.

Why shift at all? Why not stay centered or even biased towards the front and then just turn through?
@PeterKnightGolf11 ай бұрын
Moving your body centre (not swaying) allows us to use the ground to generate force. Being still doesn’t do that. Think of throwing a ball without shifting pressure on your feet or not shifting your body’s centre of mass. It wouldn’t be able to generate the same degree of force.

I would just say, most of your power comes from your hands and arms. The difference between swinging a golf club, and throwing a ball is that the club is being swung vertically down to strike the ball at the bottom of the arc. Throwing a ball is a forward motion. Ground force can be achieved by pushing up off the ground to accelerate the club head, moving downwards. Shifting your weight forward adds very little in the way of clubhead speed.

Wrong. The shift is forward and downward…not just forward. I hit the ball hard and straight with this move.

If you simply read my post you would see that I stated most of the power is achieved through pushing up off the ground, not lunging forward. I’m glad you agree with me.
