In our Timisoara Romania Travel Vlog, we share best things to do in Timisoara, where to eat in Timisoara and our overall impressions of our travel here. We determined that this beautiful city is a great entry point when traveling to Romania, due to its location, history, and friendly people.
We arrived from Belgrade and immediately started exploring Timisoara, Romania and discovered a city with a vibrant culture, wonderful architecture, important history in freeing Romania from Communism in 1989, friendly locals, traditional foods and a very walkable city.

As the Retirement Travelers, we have always dreamed of traveling, but we never in a million years thought we would become travel vloggers and start a KZbin channel. But, that is what we did! We work hard every day to become better and create something that others will enjoy. Having a community of friends, old and new, follow our journey to travel the world is fun and exciting to us.
In 2019, we achieved our goal of visiting every state in the union in our Airstream. We also visited every national park in the lower 48. We are big believers in lists, so of course we plan to see the remaining 12 parks in the next few years.
In 2021, we made the big decision to extreme downsize to just a large and small backpack, each. We started our journey around the world beginning in Central America. We hope that over the next many years, we will have seen many beautiful things, made many memories and new friends, and shared the experience with our children and grandchildren.

Many people all over the world have the association Romania - Dracula castle. But in Slovakia we have a castle that was the decor for one of the Dracula film. It is called Orava Castle, only 11 km (7 miles) away from my home town Dolný Kubín.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Time is going so fast! I moved from the Netherlands to Slovakia (that time still Czechoslovakia) at the start of December 1989. The whole summer of 1989 I spent with my wife (that time my Slovak girlfriend) in Slovakia and the Netherlands. We made plans for our future which became more specific after visiting authorities in both countries. So we missed the greater part of what was going on in the former East block countries that time (East German citizens going to the embassy in Budapast (Hungary) and from there going to Austria). We planned our marriage for February 1990. But when the uprising against communism in Czechoslovakia took place, starting November 17th, 1989, I was shocked. I was in the Netherlands that time, preparing the last things to leave for (Czecho)Slovakia, and I was worried what could happen and/or what (had) happened in Prague, Bratislava, smaller towns and villages. Information was scarce (no internet back then). In (Czecho)Slovakia everything turned out quite well. Two weeks after my arrival in (Czecho)Slovakia I saw what happened in Romania. I could not understand Czech or Slovak language that time but they took the news straight from Romania, with Romanian words and Slovak or Czech subtitles. Since Romanian is close to French I was able to understand what was happening there. In the end it turned out well, but it cost a lot of lives of innocent people.

We keep our high deductible US insurance for a number of reasons. We have found that cost of medical treatment is so much lower in the countries we have been, that no international policy is needed. That is a difficult question! We liked both. They are very different. Both are quite inexpensive. Belgrade is much larger, has interesting history and plenty of things to see and do. Timisoara is much smaller, more charming, prettier architecture, etc John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/
