As a trinidadian, it seems I've been entirely oblivious to the situation, despite living here myself. This was simply so eye opening and revelatory to me. I loved seeing this part of the community, although some parts of the stigmas associated with the villagers, as well as, the experiences they shared, were quite disheartening to me.

I could tell you that I grew up in east POS and back in the 80s and 90s had more wicked harmful people who were selfish and advantageous, these kids today are actually more loving and caring to each other than we were when we were growing up. Back then had plenty bullies, disrespectful people, judgmental, unkind and uncaring people, I used to have to fight each and every day to keep people off my case. women couldn’t walk the streets without men suiting them and telling them bout their shape and figure. Not saying these guys are choir boys, far from it, some of them are snatchers who go out and steal people chains and jewelry, some of them are robbers, some of them are house burglars, but most of them just stay in their community and hustle. you don’t even know what youre talking about.

That’s bc most if not all Trinis (and Jamaicans) were brought up on Soca, Calypso, or Reggae. Reggaeton is geared more towards the younger genre originated in the late 1980s in Panama.. a blend of reggae. But most Jamaican and trini(I’m trini and Jamaican) breds do not like Reggaeton
