Puerto Rico is a beautiful island in the Caribbean discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1493.
With a rich history influenced by Spanish, African, and Taino cultures, it's famous for its stunning beaches and vibrant culture.
Puerto Rico is also the birthplace of Reggaeton, home to MUSIC stars like Daddy Yankee, Jennifer Lopez, and the current king of pop, Bad Bunny
But there's a darker side to this island.
In the 1950s, the government aimed to eliminate informal favelas and barrios by creating housing projects, or caserios, to improve living conditions.However, these areas have become hotbeds of danger and crime.Drugs, violence, and shootings are daily realities in many caserios, most controlled by gangs.One infamous neighborhood is La Perla, where a tourist was killed and others attacked for filming.
I decided to visit an even more notorious place: Lloren Torres, the largest caserio in the Caribbean.
Known for its drug trafficking issues, Lloren Torres has been a gang hotspot since the 1980s.
Despite warnings from locals, I chose to explore Lloren Torres to see firsthand the reality of life there.
Join me as I go deep into Puerto Rico's most notorious hood and discover its ties to the Reggaeton culture we celebrate today all over the world."
Special thanks to my friends ‪@pekehrndz‬ and ‪@dimefirma‬ !! If you like this video please give them your support on their Instagram or KZbin because without them I wouldn't be able to live and document for all of us this insane side of Puerto Rico!!!🇵🇷

I liked this video a lot. To be honest if this was shot in any stateside city it would be a bunch of young dudes trynna show how hard the neighborhood is, and damn near brag about how violent it gets. Over here you went to the projects and it was none of that. It was a bunch of dudes who wanted to embrace the positive aspects of their community, show what it has to offer and why its culture is to be celebrated . They showed you a lot of hospitality and treated you as a guest.

@tswaggalapanteranegra8581 16 күн бұрын
@daixer3156 I'll explain the CAPS, to clarify I was not "yelling " by writing all caps, as a Puerto Rican myself now living in the States my all caps on my comment meant happiness, and excitement to see where I'm from, and to see a known KZbinr visit, experience, and get the treatment he did and watch this video was big to me and to others Puerto Ricans which is why we are very proud where we from and everywhere we go we let everyone know our by our flag. Puerto Rico a very small island 100x35 miles long but with the biggest heart. If you are Puerto Rican then you would understand what I meant and if you're not then now you know why ALL CAPS. 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🙏🏾🙏🏾💪🏾💪🏾

I always have fond memories of Puerto Rico and La Perla. In 2020 I was gettin into quick weekend getaways and me and my gf was like let’s do Puerto Rico, we arrived rented a car and as on most vacations I was looking for some “plants”. Everyone kept saying La Perla but no one was saying where or what it was. My Spanish wasn’t good at that time so I thought it was a store, maybe a destination. Didn’t realize it was a neighborhood. We literally walked up on it while exploring the island. We actually ate and chilled in la Perla, it was cool. I’m a black American from Louisiana so I’m used to dangerous places and Puerto Rico’s historic district reminds me a lot of New Orleans

Most people don't realize that Puerto Rico is HEAVILY influenced by New Yoricans ( people born in Puerto Rico , raised in New York City ). Between the 1960-2005 Nyc largest Latino population was Puerto Rican. Salsa was born in Nyc ( debatable ) in the 1970s when Puerto Ricans mixed Puerto Rican, Cuban , Black American & other genres together to create salsa ( Fania Allstars ) . The Jamaican population in Nyc also blessed Nyc with Reggae/dancehall & was huge in Nyc in the 1990s when New Yoricans started to influence the island of PR with Jamaican Reggae , thus creating Reggaeton. I'm quite aware all this is debatable however as a native born Puerto Rican raised in Nyc who also had a home on the island , going back & forth I saw first hand the influences going back and forth. Puerto Ricans have dominated Latin music for decades with Salsa , freestyle music , reggaeton , Latin house & it's all because of the Nyc influence , including the constant American tourism that passes thru this American territory. Say what you want about Puerto Ricans ( or hate ) however I've been to many countries & continents & that little island has blessed the world with music in places where people don't even speak Spanish.

White guy from the states here married to my Puerto Rican wife and her family, lol. We just got back from PR two 2weeks ago, my first time there, and by far, my favorite place to be. Loved the environment from Old San Juan to Orocovis, Carolina, to Aguadilla, Arecibo, and many others. Never felt more at home even though her family was born and raised there, and mine wasn't, but the experience alone is one I'll never forget. I want to move there and didn't want to leave, ha. Beautiful place to be born and raised in and I don't know what gringos you are used to but I'd be right up in that party with the family. Absolutely, loved it there.

The reason why low income properties in Puerto Rico look much better then in Colombia and other countries in south America is because are funded by the United States Federal Govermant Like the girl was giving free phones as she mentioned in the video are funded by the federal government

I believe every country rich in art and culture has its own favela. The favela is where it all begins the food, the art, the people, the diversity. it's all there. we are connected in a way that i can not describe but that i can feel...

Colombia has nothing to do with real reggaeton, they are culture vultures. Annual made KarolG. Even her so called Nick name, la Bichota is not Colombian. It derives from Puerto Rico. Bichoté which means a big time drug dealer in Puerto Rico. That term never existed in Colombia till now. I have friends from Medellin, Bogota, and even from Huila Colombia, and in the nineties they despised reggaeton. Colombians didn't see it as music. No hate on Colombians, but don't try to claim something that clearly is not you.
