The Colour Clash
This match is the first match of the Colour Clash. A tournament where the players are challenged to brew a mono coloured deck with cards from the 1993 and 1994 cardpool. This format plays with mana burn, all non-basic lands and artifacts are restricted. Terrific games and a super fun tournament to watch! The games were close and I think the games would have been very different with a turn 1 lion. Very well designed blue deck and expertly piloted with extreme patience.

Oh the classic “boomstick” as I used to call it with the disk trick. Classic blue control. Works great with Hurkyl’s recall too No surprise blue control won. I would love to see the same tournament but all power 9 banned since it leans so heavy on blue.

Interesting to note is that mono blue is not very popular or successful is regular tournaments. Mono green and mono black seem to do much better 🤔

@@TimmytheSorcerer do you mean in other mono color tournaments or just 93/94 in general? I’d be curious to see the deck tech of those other mono blue decks. This one went straight for the throat with the control Stasis which makes all the difference sometimes.

This was one of the best mtg matches and video’s I ever saw. Could have even been 10 times better without the annoying lounge music.

Congrats David! And thanks for proving me correct. Before this event I chimed in that blue is the most powerful color and most people disagreed with me. Stating that blue is the best supporting color and that on its own it couldn't hold up. 💧💧💧

Yeah, blue did great this event and so did white. Interestingly enough, you don’t see a lot of mono blue decks at 93/94 events and the mono green and black decks seem to do better at those events.

What a Big Brain Magic Play with untapping Time Vault with the original skip a turn option with Stasis online. That was a very cool play.

Stasis/TimeVault is probably the best 93/94 combo deck. It’s always though to play against it. I was surprised to see it do so well here, because the artifacts were restricted and limited to 8 in total. Really a great accomplishment 👏

The mono white deck is quite janky. Also, Serra Angel doesn't belong in mono white. It should be more Crusade, maybe some Army Of Allah or Jihad, and run some Repentent Blacksmith...then run a couple of Armageddons. The mono blue deck is all over the place.
