Dwarven Workshop vs RW SedgeGeddon | Old School Magic the Gathering, MTG 93/94 | 530

One of the many joys of Magic the Gathering is brewing decks and trying to find a home for cards. In today's match, I'm stocked to show you my brand new Dwarven Weaponsmith Artifact deck. This is the first time that I am actually playing with all 5 moxen in one deck and my goal is simple, let the Weaponsmith make useful weaponry out of them for my Triskelions, Tetravus and Clockwork Avians. My opponent in this match is Joep Wak and he is piloting his SedgeGeddon deck. This deck is a mix of several strategies, including fast creatures, direct damage and of course mass land destruction in the form of 3 Armageddons main. Will I be able to keep my lands long enough to cast my robots and do silly stuff? Only one way to find out..

Have you considered adding ornithopter? Early turns flying blocker that can become food for your weaponsmith. Also if someone blows up your lands you can still play it 😃

Very cool stuff!! What about Mana Vaults? Get that ramp and Blacksmith turns them into +1/+1's instead of it sitting there and burning you. Maybe? Tough to know what to cut though.

I chose moxen over vaults and felt that adding vaults would be too much mana, but I agree with you, it would def work great in this deck. Maybe take another look at the mana base 🤔

Love the deck idea, what about basalt monoliths? Theme wise it fits and the additional 3 mana at least once gives options for your outs

I like the idea, especially with all the 5 and 6 casting cost creatures. The moxen also help to drop the basalt at turn 2. Allowing a potential trike or tetra at t3. The big question is, what would you take out 🤔

Well played Joop! Thomas, well played too considering it wasn't your best day :-( Thomas to answer your question: what I'm missing in your deck are cheap creatures (2-4 colorless and 1 red manna, easy with your fellar stone, sol ring,..) to do some damage to your opponent in between. Now you have played so many rounds without inflicting a single damage on your opponent. Which cards to replace? I would suggest, replace the tron with 2 Uthden Troll (generations!) and 2 Two-Headed Giant of Foriys (trample) :-) ... and a Feldon's Cane to get the beasts back in the game :-) . What do you think of this?

You guys are building a whole new deck 😂 The idea is that the Dwarf is a smith and makes these artifact creatures and fixes them, making new weapons for them using the gems. But the deck you two are making sounds great as well 👍👯‍♀️👯‍♀️

I don't know if you can use the following cards? 1) Enchantments: - Amok 1R (Stronghold) moves +1/+1 counters - Consuming Ferocity 1R (Mirage) put counters on opponents cards, discard ferocity, opponent takes x counters of damage - Dwarven Armory 2RR (Ice Age): Pay 2 +2/+2 on a creature during maintenance 2) Artifact: Elevator 2 (Mercadian): 1, tap, put a counter on it. Remove x counters to put a creature with mana cost X from your hand onto the battlefield.

Nope, you have to tap the Candelabra. It’s a mono artifact.

Right!! I so wanted to make this deck, but needed some key components first. Now that I have, I’m really enjoying it. The idea of using the moxen to produce +1/1 counters with the Weaponsmit for the Robots is just 👌👌👌

@Savannah Lion They are still in my sights but they ate still a lot of money. Hopefully one day...I still need 13 of 40 dual lands so maybe not. I think I'd rather have the dual lands. We'll see. The quest is eternal! A man has to have goals. 😁
