The 10 & 8 mm spanner’s are for adjusting the wire to your gears and your brakes. 🚴 Shimano use a 10 mm nut at the end of the wires and you absolutely need to get that off when removing the rear wheel 🛞 I use the same Topeak Hummer tool and love it. The 6 & 8 mm hex keys are a bit soft when using with great force 😮

Hi Tim. The spanner in your Topeak survival box is probably for brake hoses.

Yeah - turns out I havent replaced or shortenes a brake hose in years so had forgotten!

Good collection you've got there Tim. Channel sub count is going up quickly now and its deserved Mate, you put a lot of effort into your vids. 👍 I bought one of the ratchet Topeak sets off Amazon a couple of months ago to replace the multi tool. Have never actually used it myself but did lend it to a guy at Black Mountains Cycle Centre a couple of weeks ago. He thought it was awesome as it got him out of a hole! Its not much bigger than a multi tool to carry and although I haven't used it yet I do prefer the idea of it to the multi tool.

They look handy. And thanks. I’m hoping 1000 soon. Maybe I should give away one of my multi tools as a 1000 sub giveaway 😆

The 8mm spanner is for the brake hose bolt. The 10mm is for the older chainring nuts. I have the Topeak Hexus. Also has spoke key in the tyre levers, best multi tool out there IMO. I've also got the same torque wrench, bargain. My bike tools are very different from my workshop tools. Workshop ones are a lot more heavy duty. Only things I've not got is a wheel truing stand and a headset press.

Gaz Thorner mines actually the Hexus also, not the Hummer that I put up. Very similar.
@Gaz4944 жыл бұрын
@@TimFromWales I did think that when it popped up lol. At least now you know about the spanner though 👍🏼

Just looked at both the Hexus and the Hummer and they are identical. Only she 8mm adapter seems to slide on the hummer rather than come off altogether

Topeak Hexus X lives in my pack (sometimes a Leatherman too depending how far I’m going), looks very similar to your Hummer tool. The 8 & 10mm would be for brake compression (union) nuts depending upon brake/brand, that said my Whyte brakes have banjo bolts 👍🏻
@TimFromWales4 жыл бұрын
That’s right - it’s a hexus. A lot of these look the same. Thanks for the reminder. Looks like the hummer though - is that maybe the replacement
@modders44184 жыл бұрын
TimFromWales MTB Possibly yes, there seems to be a ‘new, better, upgraded’ tool out every five minutes. I’m tempted by the Topeak Ratchet Rocket Lite DX but I’m not sure I’d gain any usefulness overall, I do have one of the Topeak mini ratchets in a mini edc-type tool kit and it’s a lovely bit of kit.
@TimFromWales4 жыл бұрын
Modders I’ll probably buy one of them next month. The survival gearbox is a neat idea but not really very practical - might do a separate video review I think?

TimFromWales MTB Oooo...shiny! 😂 It’s always harder time resist something when it’s labelled ‘kit’ or comes in a nice box/toolroll/etc

Love my brand x multi tool and my brand x torque wrench! They do the job brilliantly! You know I’d be interested in camera bags 😉

Thanks for watching all the way to the end.🤟🏼 I’ll have a think about the camera video

Great video dude , use topeak myself , might have to invest in a xtools wrench one think I dont have for putting the bike back together

Its game changing for me. Worst is bolt thru axles - I found i was massively over tightening and then rounding off the hex when trying tio undo it...

@@TimFromWales head set and stem is my worst can never get them right, if I take them off I take it to a friend of mine in the local bike shop just to torque them up , Defford on the list

What about topeak ninja series. Get a 20 part multi tool + tyre levers + bottle all on a bottle cage

I like the look of those and have considered them for my gravel bike.
