You guys always make my night with these videos. I can't express how appreciative I am for that. I am a full time care-giver for my mom. She is 86 and has dementia and things get very tough and my favorite KZbin creators (you are both in that group) make a huge difference for me. Have an amazing week, gentlemen!

Thank you for your service to your Mom, j. My mother is sharp as a tack, but I kept her company for eight years. Then I just had to go to Thailand. Maybe some day you'll get to that point, too. I think they want us to be happy.

@@steverosse I am glad you kept your mom company. It can be frustrating, but I think it will be something that is looked back on more fondly when we only have them in our memories. She is nearing the point I need to place her in a memory care unit. It gets too much for one person. I won't be 50 for another year and a half, but I am hoping I will be ready for a one way ticket by then:)

Yul Brynner was born Yuliy Borisovich Briner on July 11, 1920, in the city of Vladivostok. He had Swiss-German, Russian, Buryat (Mongol) and purported Romani ancestry. He was born at his parents' home, a four-story house on 15 Aleutskaya Street, Vladivostok, into a wealthy Swiss-Russian family of landowners and silver mining developers in Siberia and the Far East. At the time the territory was controlled by the Far Eastern Republic and Vladivostok was partially under Japanese control.

"My Wife Next Door" - was a UK TV comedy where a divorced couple ended up, living next door to each other - and got on! I was watching "First Dates" last night and the girl suggested this idea (of living next door to each other) to her male date. He didn't understand. Separate bedrooms or separate houses could be an great idea for mature couples. Steeve doesn't wish to MISLEAD anyone with his ADVICE. We understand Steeve. Your advice is "take your time" which is wisdom.

Steve made a very wise observation about love. Real love is something that will take over your life but you can still have a satisfying life without it. It is certainly not easy to find long lasting love but you can do things can increase the odds. Don't come to Thailand looking for love unless you are already very experienced in relationships. Plenty of people fall in love in the first couple of days not realizing that Thai women fall in and out of love in a heart beat. Whatever you learnt in your own country about sizing up women doesn't work in Thailand. Language and cultural differences hide major problems that would normally set off the warning bells. Having said that Thailand is an adventure so accept that you will have your heart broken. You will get over it but not if you get separated from your life savings.
@steverosse
@steverosse Жыл бұрын
I agree with all of that, except, "Thai women fall in and out of love in a heart beat..." Thai women fall in love just like anybody else does. But prostitutes of any nationality will profess love for a price. Maybe that's what you're referring to.
@russellgunther
@russellgunther Жыл бұрын
@@steverosse A heart beat is an exaggeration and I am ignoring fake love. No just a general lack of emotional maturity for their age compared to the western world. It really stands out with women I know from all levels of society. I hope they don't read this. Maturity would entail making an effort to communicate and keep a genuine relationship going when a problem is encountered vs the easy trash and burn and start again. For a farang it is so easy to deeply offend a Thai women without realizing it. She will usually show no response initially but it will simmer away waiting to explode.

Just a question, how many expat playgrounds are there in the world?
@matthewslife1
@matthewslife1 Жыл бұрын
Steve, Too many playgrounds around the world for me to count. In the early nineties I went to Russia after the iron curtain fell. (That was my most rememberable playground) The next trip was to Berlin. Another wall there had fallen and opened up a playground for this traveling expat with a pocket full of money. I always enjoyed the playground in Holland. Blonde haired Blue eyed "10s", soft sweet and affordable. It's no longer like that. Spent time in Costa Rica, Argentina, and Brazil. The latin playgrounds are wonderful for a younger man. But I definitely no longer have the energy to keep up with a Brazilian woman, especially on the playground. I'm leaving a nice playground right here in Atlanta, Georgia. But, America has became very boring and its time to leave for good. I purposely never went to an Asian country knowing I was going to save them for my last chapter in life. My home is Pattaya. The most incredible playground in the world for an old, sometimes grumpy, but very kind and generous expat. I wish they could bury me on Soi 6 and put on my tombstone "Matty from Patty. He saved the best for last"

My comment is about the wooden houses. Here in Udon, there are a couple of lots next to the highway that have several of them on display. I suspect there are similar lots scattered around in other cities. Now, for the wooden house itself, while beautiful to look at, all I really see when I look at owning one is work. So long as the structure exists, there will be a need to maintain the wood finish. It would be like having a wooden boat; lovely to look at and a nightmare to own.

On the subject of building a home there. Isn't there a way to Lease a piece of property there, say for 50 years, then build your modest home, either with or without a bride? Sure, the land owner would get the building after your " gone," but who cares. I read of a program like this in the Philippines where you can't buy land as a foreign either.
