L'Heureux probably should have gotten a two minute minor penalty for roughing, crosschecking, or unsportsmanlike conduct. But Meier definitely deserved the five minute major and game misconduct. I think he meant to deliver a second hard crosscheck to the chest, but accidentally crosschecked L'Heureux in the face, which is quite a bit worse. Even if accidental, it's reckless, and it's worth a five minute major and a game misconduct.

I won't argue a minor penalty against L'Heureux as that's debatable and the call is at the whim of the refs. However, it shouldn't be for cross-checking as what he did wasn't a cross-check. That was a typical clean pushing of an opponent using his stick which is legal. I'll admit it's hard to tell in real-time and I have the benefit of watching it in slo-mo.
