Timo the Cat Lost His Fishy Friends, Very Sad

A few weeks ago during the heat wave our Koi pond has been hit with the deadly Koi virus KHV, we lost almost all our Koi fish. We are still praying for the 7 Koi that are still alive. Timo's best fishy buddies (the gray one and the big orange/ brown one died). Timo misses his buddies, so are we.

I'm so sorry for your loss 😢😞 My parents had an above ground fish pond when I was younger and some of my best memories as a kid was letting the fish nibble my toes. OMGosh, this makes me cry for you Timo! I never heard of the KHV virus. I am going to research it. So sorry about this. I see that you have a few of your Koi in a holding tank, you are treating them for the virus in there? They are our pets and I know how much this hurts you all 😢

Thank you so much for your heartwarming words. It can be KHV or Flavo, both are deadly Koi virus. Hot weather triggers this virus and new Koi, both were the case. We have contacted a Koi doctor and have desinfected our pond and Koi with Halamid. There's nothing else we can do, just praying for our other Koi who are still alive. In our region there are similar cases going on, so sad.

That's awful, especially too lose so many at the same time (a few years ago I lost my cat&dog at Christmas within days of each other, eerily I got both at the same time & lost them at the same time. I still feel it each December). Poor Timo. Animals grieve the same as us humans, my Kit did when she was suddenly left alone. At least Timo still has his little brother as a distraction. You'll have to give them extra hugs & kisses for a while. I'll be thinking of you x

As a koi fish owner I am crying over your loss! Mine are new ( 2 months) and my battle is the danger of lurking cormorants, which I have now netted the pond from ( no casualties yet). What a horrible virus. I am new to koi so I must read up on this killer. I think of Timo when I go out to feed my fishes and my cat Booboo goes to the waters edge and "talks" to them and then takes a drink. God bless the healing of your 7 convalescent fishies and I pray from my heart for recovery! If His eye is on the sparrow, it is most surely on the fishies as well!

I’m so sorry for your’s and Timo’s loss....I had two goldfish for over 9 years, and I named them after my late father. My fathers Christian name was Arthur and his middle name was Henry, so I called one fish Arthur and the other fish Henry. My fish died within weeks of each other. I live very close to a river, so I took them there and gently lay them in the flowing water and said goodbye, it was a very sad time, and I feel very emotional at this very moment writing about it. Some people don’t understand the loss of a pet, whatever the pet may be and the heart break it brings Timo will be very sad and will miss his special friend, and Timo will always remember him. I believe cats are spiritual animals and the older the cat, the bigger the energetic body and as time passes, a cat gathers more spiritual power, I believe that when a life passes from this world it leaves behind energy, nothing really dies and Timo will know and feel that this is true. The Koi really were friends with Timo. I miss them as well. I think my favorites are gone now. They really were amazing. Poor Timo. This is hard on him and I think I see him being confused & sad, this sweet boy. A cat 🐈who liked fishes as friends and playmates. Xiedubbel when my 8year old pond comet, Atlantis passed away, I was inconsolable for days. I know they are just fish, but they do become part of the family

Xiedubbel Atlantis is the only fish I've ever owned that enjoyed being petted. If I didn't pet him he would splash me as I sat on the couch. He knew when I would wash my hand and walk to his tank he was about to be petted and would wait in the top corner. Sometimes he was so eager he would come out of the water like orcas spyhop. He is the only fish that I buried in the backyard. All others got went to a watery grave. Always with a salute, a thank you for being a friend, then good bye aided by the silver handle. Small aquariums so small fish

That I can well understand! I once had a large aquarium with lots of lovely fish that I cared deeply about , until one day they got something called white spot disease. Only one fish survived. That's so like my mother's cat, Tammy, when she lost Pierre, the toy poodle. That dog was so friendly towards her kittens, she's grown so fond of him ever since. When he got sick, she stayed by his side until the day he passed away. Soon after, she went to join him. :'( I'm going to pray not just for the fish, but also that Toby will always be there for Timo.

Nature's cycle of life is just that don't know this terrible incident occurred with the pond very sad my mom lives in San Marcos California and they have a pond in their backyard not as big as yours but it's been there since 1980s and they have koi fish as well and those little tiny fish that eat mosquito eggs the state of California gives away to keep the mosquitoes population and spreading down having said that this place can be brutal nature can be brutal but in fairness nature could be so kind as well but to see those cats and their reaction to their loss if that is not close to human grieving and great loss then I'm blind in one eye and I can't see out of the other one I truly feel bad for Timo and Toby especially you Mister X and your significant others one time at my mom's house they live on an acre and a 1/2 a hawk or an eagle came down and took one of my mom's cats out of the backyard and carried it off into the sky and did what he did with it that beautiful orange tabby named Jonas yes that Jonas out of the Bible was never seen alive again yet having said that we all take losses unfortunately so do our pets and our pets pets those were Toby and timo's pets those were their buddies they were a great and wonderful additive to their days and happiness the interaction was unbelievable and some kind of unusual miracle Act of nature which is rare in that case these cats are friendly with fish so now they will find new friends to play with Time Heals all wounds they will all be back with a vengeance of love for one another God bless you three and all of yours we love you Timo and Toby and you definitely you as well mr. X without you there would be no Timo and Toby on our computers so you bring joy to this world sorry for your loss Time Heals all wounds those cats will be fine in time we love you guys all heal quick and come back you know Mister X I like to joke around and make people laugh laughter is the tonic of the soul and sadly there's nothing to laugh about this morning what I read this will be hard to swallow I'm truly praying for you guys again God bless you I'm at a loss for words🐒/😭😭😭😢🐱🐱

Xiedubbel I try to live by this when I've been devastated by loss human loss feline loss canine loss and all the losses together but having said that love you guys and always remember this tough times don't last but tough people do and like I said earlier you will be back with a vengeance for love for one another talk to you soon man God bless the thing about cat cats and affectionate animals that get close to you as a friend as a buddy as a lover and their unconditional love they don't lie to you they don't steal from you they don't cheat on you with your girlfriend and most of all their unconditional love is marked by an affection pretty much unknown to man not all men but a lot of people don't know how to show it and possibly oblivious to these facts my remorse is overwhelmed by the situation I know the things that don't kill you will ultimately make you stronger so my faith is in the hands of or maker and love you guys sorry about the emotional delivery but what can I say I love cats I love people but I really love cats again tough times don't last but tough people do and I know you'll make it mister X and the people that are closest to you some people might laugh because you're talking about fish about an animal that breathes eats drinks kind of like human beings only your unconditional love having said that tough times don't last but tough people do and you guys will last see you talk to you soon God bless💒🐷🐱🐱
