Metro Man and Megamind are just two sides of the coin. Yet the society didn't gave them any other choices: Megamind became evil because that's how the people around him treated him, nobody bothered to see if there's goodness in his heart, you can tell that no matter how evil he is, he got easily emotionally attached to Roxy because that was the first time Megamind got treated special by someone (tho not directly). Metro Man became the savior of the city because that's how the society sees him ever since. He's obligated to serve and become their hero, but just like Megamind, Metro Man didn't got any choice to do want he wants aside from saving Metro City on daily basis. That's why he retired, he got fed up of constantly beating the crap out of Megamind. I even think Metro Man feel bad for Megamind at some point, he let him win.

you mean ALMOST win lol but yeah, I'm pretty sure Metro Man felt bad for Megamind after he grew up, even though he was in on treating Megamind as troublemaker as a child.

Even their family on earth is the opposite. Metroman is raised in the perfect white household, yet we honestly don't see his parents engaging with him actively. Metromind has admirers but we don't see him with friends or pets. Megamind is raised in literal jail yet the prisoners are seen teaching and doing stuff with him, even if they are morally dubious. Megamind has Minion by his side.
@yuurou79273 жыл бұрын
One of the best well written part of this movie is Metroman didn't actually show up in the end fight. It has so many layers of good writing in it: 1, Avert expectations and surprise audience with Megamind impersonating Metroman 2, Convey Metroman believes Megamind can do this on his own 3, Megamind put up such a good Metroman because he knew Metroman this well and he's actually good at being a hero 4, Megamind didn't keep the facade because he is not looking up to be Metroman but be a unique hero on his own 5, Avoided "retired hero had a change of heart moment" cliche 6, In the meantime solidified the theme of this movie which is "choose your own destiny" 7, Showed Megamind's strong suit -- the mind can beat raw power 8, Both Metroman and Megamind's character arc is completed Boy I can't praise this movie's bold choices enough.

@riverajustinmarks.3 жыл бұрын
actually, number 4 isn't true, his plan was to never reveal himself to be the real hero that saved him. He was so sure that everyone wouldn't accept him as a hero which is another reason he showed up as Metro man because he tried to give the people the hero they believed in. Roxanne helped him by showing the town who actually saved them since he was so frowned upon as a villain. So basically Megamind was willing to give all the credit to Metro man because he expected that he wouldn't be accepted if he showed up as himself.
@BobPantsSpongeSquare973 жыл бұрын
@@riverajustinmarks. yeah you're right. Even though Megamind by that point knew Metro Man wasn't really a hero, he was the hero the general public would accept. And it's good that it's Roxanne who reveals to everyone that Megamind is the true hero as she was his biggest critic

Hal is a classic "nice guy"and, when he gets powers, he gets even worse, as he has the power to do whatever he wants as a result. Even his reaction after Roxy rejects him on the tower after their "flight"adds to the fear factor. Neat fact if you slow the unimpressed metro Man sun ray scene you can actually see him use his super speed to get out of the observatory he fades for a few seconds that is a neat detail.

This is one of my favourite movies and you guys' reactions were so much fun! One of the things I love about it is how Megamind is basically at his lowest point through the entire film until the very end. And when he gets a bit of victory, it sends him to an even lower point. It's kind of unique for an animated kids movie!
@galerios12 жыл бұрын
I love this movie. This is what happens when Tom catches Jerry, when Wile e coyote catches the roadrunner, when Sylvester Catches Tweety. The chase was the fun part. If that ends, the shows over. And then because he hit that wall he found what he was really about.

You know, if a career in heroism doesn't pan out, Megamind can CERTAINLY get a gig in show business. That man's dancing is amazing! Plus, his taste in music is great! But he's rather awkward when it comes to social graces. Those yellow roses he brought to the Metro Man Museum were all wrong. Yellow roses symbolize happiness, when all he wanted to do was apologize for killing the hero. Ideally, he should have brought white tulips, which means "forgive me." 37:46. "Hello, everybody! My name's Markiplier!"

Odd, I thought yellow flowers meant 'friendship'.
@axelord4ever2 жыл бұрын
@@smartalex22 Depends on who you ask, and how broad the 'commonly' accepted meaning you're trying to get out of it. Personally always have known yellow flowers to mean reconciliation, which is, I guess, kinda both about friendship and asking forgiveness? Also heard yellow being used to mean happiness and joy. It's not like there's anything _official_ about any of this, really.

When Metroman uses his super speed, you can actually see him disappear for a very short while when they are both on the big screens (at around 12:22 in this video) and you can see something behind Megamind in that same period of time ! Nice attention to detail !

So many details in that movie for an example everytime Megamind use his device to change into someone else, his eyes keeps the same green color. That's how you know if it's him or not even as metroman.

The reason "Space Dad" talks like that is a reference to Marlon Brando's portrayal of Superman's father, Jor-El in the original Superman movie with Christopher Reeve and Margo Kidder. The voice he was doing was actually more like Brando from The Godfather, though. Referencing two movies at the same time like that really kind of made it funnier.

So theory about the plot of this movie: When metroman's parents realized they had an alien baby with super powers they decided to capitalize on it and make him a super hero then they heard about another alien baby who landed in a nearby prison who was blue and had a big head and decided to capitalize again and rigged the game telling the warden to let the inmates raise him and set up a school to praise metroman and ostracize megamind to make sure metroman became a super hero and megamind became his villain
