The crew gift (still have it) was a black Megamind cape with a big M on the back. The funniest most random part of my job was paying the celebrity voice actors. funny how that's always how it seems to go. the quality product goes underrated and unnoticed, while the product with better marketing potential boosts to fame. sad really that even when it comes to things like stories the lower quality stuff wins (not saying DM is bad quality, it's still good generally, but in direct comparison to MM it's just not _as_ good) because the competition tragically has nothing to do with the story/product itself, only the ability to advertise and profit. :/ but on the bright side, it creates gems that people get to discover and appreciate even more down the line.

This is so much better than Despicable me, and it just never stood a chance against it at the box office, and now it’s basically forgotten everywhere but Tumblr.

Megamind was so underrated when it came out, but it is totally amazing! I love it that the villain was an incel. It is very fitting.

A great detail is that when Megamind uses the watch to disguise himself the disguise always has green eyes. Because he has green eyes.

"No one has a public image that shiny without some dirty deeds." While I agree that it's exceptionally rare, Fred Rogers, of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, was every bit the kind soul he appeared to be. I know George, sadly, didn't get to grow up with Mister Rogers, he was _definitely_ on Canadian TV in the 90s so perhaps Simone had the pleasure of knowing him as I did (through the TV, don't be gross).

That whole presentation scene is, I don't have appropriate words. It's the closest thing I've ever seen to the perfect dramatic entrance. Think about it. Set the humor aside for a moment, give into the drama a little and look at it. First, let's talk about the preceding scenes. The threat is unstoppable. The only power capable of matching it has benched itself, but it points toward another hope. Who refuses it. And walks away. We then enter the darkest hour. The threat has taken the best and most hopeful character in the entire story, and now, even they begin to feel despair. And abandonment. But just before, we got one last promise of hope. So for the whole scene, on top of the despair, on top of the hopelessness, we feel a constantly building sense of frustration! And anticipation. We were right to. Thunder booms, and the unstoppable threat turns to find that, without him even noticing (!), the SKY has been BLOTTED OUT! And this unstoppable, invincible, fallen angel of wrath, floats before a dark storm of lightning and thunder that seemingly fills the whole world. And looks small. Then a voice, filling the air from every direction at once like an enraged GOD! "YOU DARE TO CHALLENGE MEGAMIND!" "this town isn't big enough for two supervillains." And as the visage of the Megamind emerges from the storm, to personally belittle and rain humiliation upon this upstart ant who has managed to offend him, we cut to her. I want to really emphasize this moment. This whole movie, people have looked upon this man with scorn. The only thing he has needed to do to sour the mood, to spread fear and panic, to bring children to tears, is appear. And now, he has appeared again. Grander and greater then ever before. And we turn to look upon the person he might have hurt worst of all. And what do we see? We see hope. We see hope! THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is presentation. I could say more, but I'm gonna cut it here. I hope I got my point across.

The best part about this movie is seeing Megamind go from a typical bad guy into a hero

I love how he said this movie is like 'The Boys for Children' before Tighten even showed up, when he's basically Kid-Friendly Homelander

I think it's great that Metroman, being perfect in almost every way, found himself living a meaningless life only to please others and meet their expectations, and to escape that he picked music, something he absolutely sucks at.

This is a tragically undersung movie. 2010 was a big year for animated movies: Despicable Me was a fellow Dreamworks picture that overshadowed it due to wider appeal due to it being more of a kid’s movie as y’all say, and there was also the other Dreamworks Juggernaut franchises, “How to Train Your Dragon”(the first one), and “Shrek Forever After” (the fourth one). Disney/Pixar also released “Tangled” and “Toy Story 3” that year, and there was also Village Roadshow’s gorgeous “Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga’Hoole”. Sadly, Megamind got lost in the shuffle and buried under all the massive franchises that either originated or continued in that year.

I love both (Megamind and Despicable me)... While there are definitely some simularities in concept (Bad guy -> (sorta) good guy) they are really different in execution and themes.

This movie is an incredible ride. Pure DreamWorks flipping the tropes on their head to create a classic. Monsters versus Aliens is another under rated classic from them.

They announced last year a sequel series to Megamind for streaming after so long and it will release in the next couple years. I just hope it lives up to the original.
