My wife and I go to York once a year for a few days for the uk snooker championship at the end of November , we stay opposite a lovely pub called the phoniex , the tradition every year is to go into the phoniex for our first drink, I always have a pint of landlord! It has become to me the feeling of the festive season starting !! A simple moment maybe , but one that feels me with fond memories of great times !! Cheers to mr Taylor

Landlord. Always wonderful. I had a verdant DIPA on location in Falmouth, and yes it was EPIC. Yet every now and then, the humble Landlord at £1.80 a bottle matches it. That's beer, they haven't messed with the recipe and class is permanent

I wish English styles were more of a thing over here, not that they're impossible to find. But it's why homebrewing is popular, if you can't find it you have to brew it yourself. Saw a youtube vid recently, one of the head guys at TT's doing a tasting of their lineup, it all looked beautiful.

TTL has thankfully become a widely available beer. I love it and get some in now and again. Usually get a case from an online store or direct form the brewery online store rather than a few bottles from my local supermarket and store it in my attic during the colder months. The definitive English pale ale! To be fair Yorkshire has some of the best ales in the country - Black Sheep, Sam Smiths, Theakstons etc. Simon, never work with kids or animals while recording!

As a style, I'm not a huge fan of bitters, but Landlord is absolutely spot on. Decades of perfection and not compromising on quality ingredients. Along side Landlord, Holdens Bitter and Bathams Bitter are similarly right up there. I'll send you a couple.

Landlord is an English pale ale not a bitter!
@richard99cookify2 жыл бұрын
Yeah what Luke said, bitters are all about the hops but this is delicately malt-forward, so is a pale ale
@davidpotter65642 жыл бұрын
@@richard99cookify With English beers the naming of styles can be a but fuzzy due to marketing. For example London Pride is called Amber Ale but is probably a best bitter. Hobgoblin is called Ruby Ale but is really a brown ale. Likewise Landlord could get away with being called a pale ale or bitter but pale ale just sells better.

I'm thirsty now Simon.. I used to enjoy it in bottles, but I'm now sick of seeing it in London. if you're in a pub which just has a couple of beers it's invariably Landlord, Doombar or London Pride. I just keep on walking. it's quite a boring beer. when pulled through a sparkler it can be nice though. in West Yorkshire it's considered at the bottom of the pile really, compared to other beers you can find there.
@Nik25552 жыл бұрын
It’s far from been considered as bottom of the barrel in West Yorkshire 🤣 It’s held in high regard as the old fashioned regional brewery it is. Compared to other beers of the same style from West Yorkshire eg Leeds best, tetleys cask, ossett blonde it blows them Out the water. Can’t compare it to your northern monks or magic rocks. (Both of which have deteriorated massively since selling their souls)

The English beers were the best in the world. Then you blokes started selling Budweiser in your pubs sometime after I left in 1986. Why? TT is a classic real ale. Now a days I hv no idea what this new age BEER crap is whether in the UK or the USA. Give me a TT on cask with a beer engine. Heaven!
