I think the capacitor is out on your motor, which is why you have to kick it to get it started. A single phase motor just oscillates it's poles but without a little push from the capacitor it doesn't move. Should be able to kick it the other way too and make it run backwards lol

Tim, in order for those disposable foam plugs to actually work, you really need to compact them by rolling them between your thumb and forefinger and insert them until barely a 1/4 inch is sticking out, and wait for them to swell back up and seal your ear canal. The way you are wearing them in this video, with almost half the plug hanging out your ears, it's doing NOTHING to protect your hearing! If they do not make an audible when you take them out, they're not in far enough. From somebody who has lost a significant percentage of his hearing, and has permanent tinnitus now... PLEASE take better care of yourself!

In the past when I had my machines not wanting to start, it turned out to be something called a "start capacitor". I was starting my lathe with an electric drill for a while. :). Until I got it fixed. It was actually not as expensive as I thought to buy one of the capacitors. Might be what's wrong with that motor you have to kick.

The press is fine...but I don't own one. Instead, what I do is lay a weight on top of the wedge and then bring the whole bit down as if I'm setting the head for a test fit. This works very well, I find, and the physics of the whole thing works to keep moving everything in the correct direction.

after seeing the inconel one it made me wonder if a hard stone like jade could be used and be able to last a long time, when it comes to heating jade this is the first thing I found.. Can jade be heated? This is determined by its particular physical and chemical features: jade is capable of bearing very high temperatures and although it is becoming heated around 20 per cent longer compared to other stones, it gives away temperature to environment gradually and therefore maintains the temperature longer ... and Gemstones that can NOT take heat from soldering and casting in place are: Emerald, Opal, Jade, Amethyst, Topaz, Peridot, Coral, Aquamarine, Tourmaline, Topaz, Pearl, Lapis Lazuli, Turquoise and Onyx as these gemstones may burn, crack or discolor when exposed to high heat so according to those bits... dependant on the temperature as far as jade goes

Someone may of said this but when I weld toolsteel I use stainless filler rod usually 316 or an RSP problem steel arc welding rod which maybe 309 stainless. The stainless is unaffected by the carbon in the toolsteel and won't harden

Thank you for sharing, but I have a question, What do you do with the scraps of steel? is it possible to melt them and re use them? if it is possible , is it cost effective? I think a small foundry / Furnace is about 700 or so Euros and melting scraps in a bar might just give you a financial edge. I am not sure but please let me know if you come to a conclusion upon it. Thanks again for all your vids it is just great.
