The problem is corn syrup costs more to make than sugar but is subsidized by the U.S. government so Manufactureing of sweetened foods cost the companies less to make. Hfcs has 55% fructose and 45% sucrose. Cane sugar is 50/50. Hfcs is not the problem. The actual problem is the abundance of added sugars in processed food in the USA. Also, the fact that people just guzzle ounces and ounces of soda a day. The quckest way to ingest calories is by drinking it. Stop drinking sodas and stop eating things with added sugars. In essence, yes, avoid products with hfcs. Not necessarily because it is hfcs, but because it has no business being in the ingredient list and because it is overused.

This is what Google's Gemini A.I. has to say: The situation with Coca-Cola sweetener in Mexico is a bit interesting. Traditionally, Coca-Cola in Mexico used cane sugar. This is why many people seek out Mexican Coca-Cola, believing it has a different taste due to the sugar source. However, things have gotten more complex. In 2013, some Mexican Coca-Cola bottlers announced a switch from cane sugar to high-fructose corn syrup [Wikipedia: Mexican Coke]. There was clarification though, stating this change wouldn't affect Coca-Cola specifically exported to the US as "Coca-Cola Nostalgia" products [Wikipedia: Mexican Coke]. So, to answer your question, it depends. Coca-Cola produced in Mexico for export to the US likely still uses cane sugar. Coca-Cola sold within Mexico itself might use cane sugar or high-fructose corn syrup depending on the bottler.

The Mexican comes in a glass bottle and has more carbonation. The plastic bottles cannot be as carbonated, because it will explode. When they first selling it in plastic bottles the bottles would explode so they had to put less carbonation the plastic bottles. I learned this from the delivery driver.
@scorpioqueen19796 ай бұрын
The Mexican version is the original Coke recipe without the actual coke. The soda was originally created as a medicine but failed. The creator accidently made the beverage. It was originally only called Coke because it was made from cocaine but after the FDA was created, or something happened, i forget, they had to remove it and the name changed to coca cola. The second CEO switched to HFCS to lower prices and compete with new competition. It was expensive to get the can sugar from Mexico ... which is why Mexico still uses the cane sugar, they are the largest producers of it. Sorry, I'm a foodie and food nerd. There's a whole series on Hulu about the food that built America.

Made in 1886 with Cocaine and the Cola nut. Originally called Coca-Cola. Ban on cocaine switched it to using caffeine for the boost. Name changed to Coke in the 80s when they tried to change the formula but wasn't successful, which resulted to them bringing the original back which they called Coca Cola Classic. The Coke was changed to Coke 2. Which was still a flop and ended up being sold only in certain countries until it was discontinued. And now it's just Coca Cola again. I'm a cocaholic and I use to work for a distributor.
@TommyD12135 ай бұрын
@@TamaSamoaAnamuaI remember as a kid having two options at the vending machine at the corner market near my house. One was for Coca-Cola, and then way down the machine, the second to last option, was Coke. That was made in response to the Pepsi Challenge earlier in the 80s where people preferred the sweeter taste of Pepsi. What they didn’t take into account was that consumers ended up not liking the sweeter taste when they consumed an entire can or bottle of Pepsi. It was too sweet and many people turned to Coca-Cola Classic. New Coke failed for similar reasons. Well, that and the fact that you don’t mess with Americana! As much as I’ve always preferred Coca-Cola, there was one Pepsi product I was absolutely obsessed with: Crystal Clear Pepsi. It existed briefly in my tween/early teen years. Loved it. Loved the smell. Loved the taste. Loved that it was clear. Loved that I was 12 and could drink endless amounts of it and not gain weight.

Interestingly enough, as a Jew, I learned about this years ago during Passover, which is where you cannot eat certain types of grain or leavened breads. One of the prohibited grains is corn, so American Coke is not Kosher for Passover. However, Mexican Coke is, since it uses cane sugar!

One of the reasons it taste better is because the ORIGINAL formula was made from "pure cane sugar" which they transitioned out because corn syrup is MUCH cheaper and does not rely on a crop that has very limited places in the United States it can grow at. Oh and also because the "corn industry" pretty much paid off everybody so that corn syrup would be the ONLY thing besides artificial sweeteners that can go into American coke.
