As a relatively new recorder player, it must just be the American in me that is baffled by this being seen as an "easy" tune. I'm grateful, don't get me wrong! But it might just show how much our education is lacking in the music department that I feel like the best player in my state for even trying this tune.

New subscriber... Great information! Playing since 2000, started at age 14. I have one video on my channel, hopefully more to come. Even after playing almost 20 years now, I'm my own worst critic. I'm finding many tips in your videos. It's a lifetime of learning.

You're right, there's always something to learn no matter how long you've been at it!

This is for my own benefit here. I had a hard time following along, haha. First part: A2ABAFDF | G2BGD'GBG | ABAFDFAF | GBAGEDD2 Will come back with part 2 when I've learnt it. 😅

Hi Sean - When playing a C natural have you ever dropped your whistle? This happened the other evening while practicing. I felt really silly.
@whistletutor5 жыл бұрын
I don't remember dropping it specifically because of a C natural, but I've definitely dropped it and/or had my hand slip off. Though that's usually because of the drinks that come along with playing tunes at sessions. :)

what Key of whistle are you using here

It's D - unless otherwise specified you can assume it's a D whistle/flute etc.

Do You use tonguing between notes?
@whistletutor5 жыл бұрын
It really depends - when I'm just playing the basic melody I tend to do more tonguing to make sure that the notes are clean and consistent - when I'm playing at full tempo it depends on the tune and what sort of feel I'm going for. That's a stylistic thing much like ornamentation - some folks use it all the time, some folks hardly at all. It just depends on your style and what sounds good to your ear.
@barteklala5 жыл бұрын
@@whistletutor I'm asking because I've heard that in irish music I shouldn't use a tongue at all (except polkas). It's easier to play with tongue and notes are cleaner, especially in 2nd octave.

Oh this isn't live, it was recorded years ago. You'll have to use the fast forward slider to move about if you need to
