I remember watching this live on TV. It was a Friday night around 7pm, I was 16 or 17, it was almost 40 years ago but the moment is still fresh in my mind. I was blown away by her performance. A legend!

The Daily Telegraph 25 May 2023 has an excellent article by James Hall about how Heaven 17 produced Tina Turner's 'Let's Stay Together' and how this dramatic live performance on The Tube in 1983 was achieved. It looks just as good 40 years on in 2023 as we mark TT's passing. It is titled, "America rejected Tina Turner - but British synth-pop saved her soul. Deemed ‘too old’ to chart in the US, the R&B dynamo found inspiration in the Sheffield electro of Heaven 17 - and became bigger then ever". Worth reading.

It never could be out of the documentary. The real supporters of Tina in her comeback were the British. This part never could be cut off. That documentary is not the definitive of her career

There really needs to be a documentary solely dedicated to her complete musicality - her vocal and genre range, her genius artistry of interpreting and arranging songs, the quintessential performer - all of it.

I remember watching both Tina's performances on The Tube...The first performance was viewed by many as an energetic cabaret performance by an over-the-hill performer (she was older than all our mothers...!?!) but Tina wisely chose the BEF/Heaven 17 guys to produce Let's Stay Together & their production skills & pop credibility (Heaven 17 were a REALLY cool band) really was the springboard she needed to propel her with that first single & the subsequent Private Dancer album...Good Bless You Always Tina.

@johnjenkins5854 Always interesting when people try to state their 'opinion' as fact' 😂 OK, so she wasn't your cup of tea... and? That's OK. What isn't an opinion is 'fact' - is that millions felt her force and were inspired by her soul, performances, strength and voice. As her record-breaking tours and the outpouring of love showed. I've never even heard of Joey. But will look him up 👍
