I got to see them in the early 90s. There was a packed auditorium and all but one of the band had their faces covered and looked a bit timid- like they were unsure of how theyd be received. The auditorium had seating, but by the end of the first song, the place was alive with people dancing in the aisles and in front of their seat. I had front row seats, and I could see how excited they got by the audiences response to them. Soon after, they all showed their faces, and had huge smiles. One by one, one at a time, theyd put down their guitar and dance like crazy. Im pretty sure that was a spontaneous choice, as when the first started, the rest of the band looked startled and surprised. As the show went on, it built up to such an amazing time for everyone there. That show has to go down to one of my favorite shows to have ever seen...specifically how it brought so many together over something new and beautiful. Id listened to the band for years before I learned what their songs are about. Turns out, as said in the video, most of their songs are actually about horrible things that have happened. It was a lesson Ive had several times from new music Ive found over the years.....songs of the worst of times. Its taught me a respect for music I dont think I had before.

In the beginning we were all Indo-European. These cultures are just branches of a large tree.

@@csillasule2900 no... No I'm sorry but African is not the same as sub Saharan. We all came from descendqnts of settlers from migratory Africa. But my DNA is 3% Neanderthal. The only race of people on earth without that are pure blooded sub Saharan Africans. It's like when people try to steal Egyptian culture by saying they were black because they were African. Europeans are a mix between hybrid Indo European and continental African. Next you'll b telling me how my people stole all your stuff and your country is poor because of mine. Jog on.

I saw them in Essaouira, Morocco in 2018. We jammed to their music it was such a great concert. We were only 18 years old when, after the concert, we managed somehow to fool the security guys and enter a very long -VIP only- street that was closed to let the artist leave the festival. They walked right beside us and we were like: "Oh, aren't those the guys that were on stage? This is cool ". And we just waved at them and they waved back. Years later now, I just found out about their story and how inspiring it is given how much they and their people suffered and managed to create great international music out of the middle of the sahara. If I could go back in time I would definitely ask for a picture and have a small conversation.

Je suis d'accord avec vous: la culture berbère est très ancienne. Et ce lien avec ces temps immémoriaux est la langue et la culture Tourag.
