I’ve just recently discovered, after almost 15 years of battling bad acne, that hydration and barrier repair is the key! No one tells you that when you have acne. I’ve also tried many different topicals and pills prescribed from my dermatologist. Cicaplast balm and The Ordinary’s barrier repair serum has done way more for my acne than salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide ever has. My skin feels so good now!

I have the exact same story. Focusing on the skin barrier helped me heal my acne, and the cicaplast balm and The Ordinary's soothing serum are both holy grails for me. I recently ordered Niod's modulating glucosides serum during the sale, because it seems to be very similar to the pink soothing serum!

@scarameeks Yeah, eating healthier also played a role. I'm a vegetarian, but before I would eat too much of the same things. My diet wasn't varied enough. I started branching out more and incorporating a more wide array of different veggies (and other foods) in my diet. I also started paying attention to the nutrient profiles of different foods and started trying to eat the daily recommended amount of vitamins and minerals

Same! I started getting breakouts in my early 20s and thought acids and the like were the way to go. Only a couple months ago I realized I may have a damaged barrier. NO ONE advises to first try healing your barrier to combat acne. I started face basting with zinc and using panthenol and the results are amazing. Now I'm slowly exfoliating either AHAs to remove the scars but still using zinc and panthenol nightly to help in healing.

Yes knowing how to save your skin when it’s irritated, having a bad reaction, or your barrier is damaged is so so important. Even if you don’t have moisturizers that are specifically for the skin barrier in your routine, you should keep one in your stash. As well as a gentle cleanser. Centella products help me. A centella sheet mask always brings my skin back to life. I use it my skin is irritated and also every time I exfoliate. Flaskin toner, skin1004 ampoule, numbuzin no.3 serum, mediheal dermaplus cica mask, Arstura Atobarrier365 cream. Only products I’ll use when I have irritation, not always all at once tho.

I recently started washing my face with Cerave's Baby Wash & Shampoo, that works too. The cicaplast broke me the hell out and gave me flaky skin 😢 I like Ponds Crema S, it's so gentle and moisturizing. If I have dry spots, I use a light layer of Polysporin on top! And that's it for my nighttime routine 😊 In the AM, I use Elf's Holy Hydration Cream under makeup. It doesn't pill or irritate me, and it's not too rich or drying. Hi Tina, thanks for sharing this! I'm 42yo (w oily/combo sensitive skin) and had a horrible allergic reaction to expired makeup (didn't know it was expired when I put it on) and my skin had the exact symptoms --- super texture, dermatitis/eczema, hot, welts, itchy, etc. My dermatologist recommended a routine super similar to what you described here. Dial back everything, just gentle cleanser and that la Roche Posay cicaplast balm. since my reaction symptoms were so severe, it took a few weeks to heal completely but I for sure know what to do anytime I feel the slightest tingle of a reaction to a product. Cheers ❤

It’s all relative. That’s what her skin looks like as irritated, red, and textured. It looks different for everybody based on what your baseline is. When my skin gets bad it looks “worse” than that but my baseline is also worse lol. It’s like if one person who is 5’0 weighs 100 pounds is compared to someone who is 5’7 and weighs 150 and then they both gain 30 pounds it’s gonna look proportionally different because of not only their baseline but also their individual combination of characteristics

When my skin is irritated and the barrier is weakened, the cleansing gel from CeraVe worked for me, then the toner from Anua Heartleaf 77, with Centella Asiatica Ampoule from Skin1004, and as a cream, the lotion from Anua Heartleaf 70 in the morning, and a cream from Atopalm for dry and sensitive skin at night. Recently I added the rice extract toner from Beauty of Joseon and I can see that my skin liked it. My skin is basically mixed, but severely dehydrated in the T zone and reactive to everything that I put on. This is my morning and evening routine. I only use SPF in my foundation unfortunately, because I'm allergic to SPF ingredients. Other things I avoid are spicy foods. It exacerbates my skin's reactivity. Or be too cold or too hot.

Remember, also when it comes to skincare LESS IS MORE. You don't need more than 4 products. THAT'S THE KEY HERE. Think of our skin as the earths ozone layer. The more crud we put on it, the worde it gets. We can repair it again and again. But if we want it to stay strong and fully heal, then we gotta stop our overconsumption in the long run and just stick to what worked before. Girls, just follow qualitified dermatologists. They always have answers for any skin issues. A $80 toner is not going to help your dark spots or whatever other skin issues you have.

But the dry spots could also be due to over cleansing. Asumimg it's the cleanser. I wonder if you can mix the gentle and the harsh cleanser in your hand first, just so you can have more moisture.

omg i have allergic reation to tamanu oil as well. my entire face would swell to the point that i can't open my yes if anything with tamanu oil touch my face. its red, itchy, hot and painful to the touch. Eucerin pH5.5 cleanser, make prem toner, avene thermal spring water, aloe gel, cicaplast baume is always my go to routine. the make prem toner work very well to combat the dehydration after the swelling goes down, avene thermal spring water and alcohol free aloe gel is to calm & cool down my skin from the redness and itchiness. cicaplast work the best on any circumstances

The Cicaplast Balm never fails me when my skin is irritated. Oftentimes in the winter, I'll add a pea-sized amount to my regular moisturizer just to prevent irritation from the dry air and cold.

I also use small amount like a spot treatment too 😆

I always experience a wreck in my skin barrier during my period week. My skin looks dull and irritated no matter how simple my skincare routine is.

thank you for the video. it's very helpful. My skin is very f...ked up at the moment but it's mostly hormonal. If my skin is reactive too I love to use the basic Pyunkang Yul products. These calm down my skin quickly too.

What sucks is if you get the curel mist in the US you know it’s not the same one that is sold in Japan 😭

Hey! Any alternative for the la roche posay cica balm? I’ve used it, it healed my extremely sensitive skin, but than i learned that it is not cruelty free and i do not feel comfortable purchasing it again. Searching an alternative for more than a year now. Thanks 🙏 😊

I can't stop admiring your makeup. 9minutes in I paused this video to view your channel. I see skipped around one of your make up videos and you skipped over the only part I personally wanted to see which is your eye makeup. I have hooded eyes and I've seen so many tutorials already but haven't been able to find a way that suits me and was hoping to try or watch how you have done yours. What products you used, etc. Nice video though ^^;;

I prefer the original cicaplast b5. Thats what we still have in the US. It definitely has saved my skin barrier multiple times.

oh, your steps are kinda similar for me if my skin irritated. i use hadalabo gokujyun cleanser, skin1004 probio cica toner, and illiyoon cream... thats it.... i still use my spf and oil cleanser too.

the unpleasant texture of the la roche posay is because of the active ingredient, dimethicone

Thankyou sm!! Really need this. I really wonder why suddenly my pores getting obvious and my dry skin getting red. I feel like I know why my skin getting there bcs I keep adding some skincare to my basic routine hahah (socmed faults lol 😂) Before this, my routine just double cleansing (I work outside) + essences + moisturiser, sunscreen morning only and I am done for the day. So after I saw your vid, I feel like I have to back to basic routine haha no more too much skincare unless I need it. Btw my skin is very dry type. I used corsx snail mucin essence and moisturiser, I lovin it so much. This really worked for me. (Sorry for the bad grammar though Hahah)

When i was on acne medication I was told to only wear spf when going out. Now that I stay mostly indoors I still use it because the influencers told us so, but I think it’s causing my skin to break out. Now that you mentioned it, I will only wear spf when I’m outdoors.
@kelsiannking48934 ай бұрын
People will recommend SPF indoors because of windows and just going out to get the mail 😅 I would break out like crazy if I wore SPF every single day. I def skip if I don’t plan on spending any time outside 🫶🏻 done wonders for my skin to skip
