The last time I went to Germany there was literally nothing good in the in-flight entertainment music but this album, I'd never heard them before but I swear I listened to the album four times through (13 hours is a long time to kill). They gave a free mini-concert when these songs were brand new and were freshly promoting their "We Started Nothing" album. Over a decade later, and this is still one of my all-time favorites--in both audio and video. There are so many layers to the audio--I can listen on repeat and not get bored. I really like it when they're both singing towards the end. The video is genius in its simplicity, proof that all you need for a good video is talent, not grand special effects--though good looks doesn't hurt, of course, and those are in good supply here, too. 🙂

This is a great example of layering elements in music. When the song starts there’s almost nothing happening and by the end it’s all going off. It’s a great song.

Appreciate it sure. There are also bands that have a lot of instruments that but the vocals are set higher to stand out. Then others that have the vocals at the same level and blend to become almost another instrument. I'm not sure how much you know about different genres out there though in the last 50 years or so. Lot's of stuff for sure.

Yeah, I saw her live and I said, WTF is this. I was impressed with the vocals and not just the eye candy. The fact that they have a real drummer as opposed to a fucking drum machine. Boy had it going on and live, live is what it's all about. For example 21 Pilots, and a few others, are realizing that and carrying the torch regardless of music style/genre. Big thumbs up!
