Original Choreography by Harvard Philippine Forum
Members of the Harvard Philippine Forum will showcase traditional and modern versions of tinikling, a Filipino barrio-style dance in which two dancers deploy strategic footwork between clapping bamboo poles. Inspired by the grace of the hopping tikling bird and by the defiance exhibited by Filipino field workers who dodged bamboo-stick strikes to their ankles during the time of Spanish colonization, the dancers will use rhythm and choreography to tell a story of love, community, and resistance across borders and generations.
Music: Tinikling by Bayanihan Philippine Dance Company, Sneeze by P-Lo
Performed by Craig McFarland, Eleanor Wikstrom, Francis Puente, Marcky Antonio
