Great video, Jake. I got a kick out of your new tab. I modified the Terry Laney tab (pre-KLS) years ago. The latest version of my tab plates are laser etched for BB and for like a glove.

One other thing to consider when cutting barebow arrows, by cutting the arrow, you're bringing the point (Aim reference) closer to you. This would mean that by aligning the point of the arrow to the yellow, you would have to stringwalk further to actually shoot while on yellow. Which might be an argument for reducing the bows performance by having to shoot more "asymmetrically" on the limbs. So you'd have to tune the tillers more. Just something to consider! Fantastic video as always!

Hi Jake, love these type of videos as I learn alot about barebow tuning through your tinkering. At 14:33 when the bare shaft flew up, you said the nock is still super low and the arrow is starting to go weaker which is expected. Can you elaborate please, why would moving the nock higher cause the arrow to fly weaker?
@toddaway
@toddaway 6 күн бұрын
if your nocking point is too high or too low, the full power of the bow is not going into the arrow so it will act stiffer. the closer he gets to the right nocking point, the more power that goes into the arrow, making it act weaker.

Jake. Thank you for the book "Tuning For Performance." I purchased two as gifts and one for myself. For target panic. You might try a nice Ben Person 333 or 337. Some fiberglass arrow. Some friends equally armed, a couple three or four hula hoops, on a sandy beach. Chase the rolled hoops with an arrow on the run. I look forward to the bear 🐻 bow book.

When you get into the weeds of the technical aspects of the sport, I often have to put the video on pause to work out the details in my mind. But by working through those details, I achieve a firm understanding of the dynamics of archery. It is definitely worth the trouble. As an aside want to bring up something that you have mentioned in several past videos and that is that string walkers need to purchase arrows stiffer by a factor of 100-150 from what may appear in a chart. I understand the logic of it, but have you tested this out? I would do it myself, but my accuracy is insufficient to be able to rely on the results. It seems that all you would need to do is to alternate between shooting split or three under and then string walking at the same distance. The tune and arrows would not change. Thank you.

Interesting video. I just built my RX7's 23's after a lot of hesitation. I heard they were difficult to tune, which held me back. But then some second hand ones came along. MAN was I surprised. I shoot them 45lbs @28,5" of draw with 220grain points. Bareshaft they tune a fair bit stiff. But they tune way better than expected and they seem insanely forgiving except for bowarm drop. Ironically they give me a better shot-feel than my carbons which tune perfectly fine, but feel extremely punishing on 18m.

N8ce to see a new Barebone Tune Video. 👌 I have some issues myself to Tuner my zniper arrow rest. The bareshafts always hitting low, with the nock point also really low. And the wire from the rest is destroying my lower fether. 😵‍💫

Consider the RX7-21s or even 22s; you can cut them shorter and/or with lighter points and with the 21s you are only losing 1/64" of line catching radius.

Could you do a video on the different ways that target panic can manifest? I find the term very broad and vague, and I still don't feel like I understand the term... and I've been shooting 4 years now.

Hi, i was bored of using a viewver, then back to barebow with different arrows (2,3" vanes and 4" feathers) i never used a clicker, i count from draw and i release at 5 or 6 indoor my 800 spine with feathers are absolutely the best at 20 and 25 meters, fast stabilisation and nice silent flight (i use silencers on my string) !

So what are you planning on for competition, just out of curiosity? Are you going to just command shoot, or go back to the grip sear? I have the same dilemma as I have super bad TP also and can't command shoot at all. And, my setup is olympic style recurve except for a d-loop & release aid, which is only legal in the freestyle unlimited classes. I'm wondering if I should even bother with competing, since I absolutely love this setup, but my only choice is to compete with the compounds with scopes/stabs/peeps/etc.
@gogsyboy1
@gogsyboy1 7 күн бұрын
Hi Coach (new archer in Scotland, and you've taught me everything so far), what's the plan for competing without the clicker? Could you try moving in on the target from the side with the trigger being when you reach the centre?
@ChristianHerold-mq7oy
@ChristianHerold-mq7oy 6 күн бұрын
This would be the shortest way to target panic. Your brain wants to send the arrow once it looks "ok" - no matter if you are ready or not... ("Hm, he always lets go of the string, when it looks more ore less like this. I can speed that up for him.") Aiming is just one step on the way in your shot process. Execution - in a controlled way - a different one, later on. Never bring those 2 together! Let the aiming picture never become your trigger for execution!
@gogsyboy1
@gogsyboy1 6 күн бұрын
I'm not sure how you can separate sight picture and execution. I used to be a damn good shot with small and full bore rifles. Take up the first trigger pressure, aim, squeeze through the second pressure while on target. Why would archery be any different? Are you a coach?
@Carnax6969
@Carnax6969 7 күн бұрын
Hey Jake, I recall that you've tested a string clicker before. Would that be suitable for your target panic rather than using a standard clicker for barebow?
@JakeKaminskiArchery
@JakeKaminskiArchery 7 күн бұрын
If you watch the previous video I explain why the arrow clicker is best... what it does it forces me to not shoot it too early since there is a big punishment to letting go too soon. The string clicker is the same as a grip/tab sear where if you let go too early there is no punishment (a miss or going far right like it is on a normal clicker)
@Carnax6969
@Carnax6969 7 күн бұрын
@@JakeKaminskiArchery Ah, okay. Thank you for clarifying. The thought popped into my head as you also mentioned in the previous vid about the clicker visually being in the way. Judging by your amazing shots, that's no longer an issue for you?
