Glad I'm not the only guy diving dumps for chainsaws. Our local scrap recycler has been a goldmine. Found half a dozen Homelites, a few parts Stihls and 2 complete vintage McCullochs in the last 3 years. I usually leave the Poulans, unless they're older ('70s-'80s). Greetings from Ohio, USA.

JEFF FREAKIN' SALSBURY! Thanks for sending such a minty mac and supporting the Tinman. She is a sweetheart! I am freakin' STOKED for that 670! Tinman, I am in no hurry, brother. I'd really like to see that stacked up against a spicy 266 myself!

Power Mac 6 outstanding saw. 32 cc and acts like it wants an 18 in bar. Love that saw. You will to made me start collecting yellow saws
@tonymayhew1913 жыл бұрын
I just picked up one of those Mac 6 for $ 10 bucks last summer! They are loud pretty powerful for their size! I have about eight of the mini mac series of saws, They are always dirty as hell inside because everyone thinks they are hard to work on! And there was always a prior owner who ran it with a dull chain which causes a mess when mixed with thick bar oil. They finally quit running after it coats the coil with this slurry from hell! And here is the problem most guys overlook, You can't just wipe the face of the coil and cure the problem!You must remove the two screws that hold the coil on, Careful not to loose the nylon washers that keep the coil from grounding out, And thoroughly clean out the pedestals that the screws fasten into with a Q tip with isopropyl alcohol on it. If the carburetor is plugged on top where the vent screen is located, That's usually all that is wrong with them! But I noticed that as the years went along the EPA really did a great job of making intake smaller and smaller! There is a ridge on the inside of the intake that will make you laugh your ass off! If you clean all the extra metal out of there and blend the intake smooth with the intake runner, Then that little bastard will bark! 😉

Best dump find for me was an 100% intact 1970’s Homelite XL12. Brought it home it sat on a shelf for two years and I decided to clean it up and get the 45+ years of saw dust out of it. The head fins were complete clogged. Threw fuel and oil in and on the third pull she fired up. They don’t make them like that anymore.
@tinmanssaws3 жыл бұрын
Those bolts are probably still leaking. Maybe try taking them out and cleaning them really well and then make gaskets and motoseal the whole thing together.

@@tinmanssaws Tinman I think your comment was meant for another comment. I love watching your content it is some of the beat I have viewed. You are passionate about powersaws and you are not afraid to share your knowledge. The other day I was back at the town dump and low and behold there was a chainsaw case. Upon opening it there was a newer completely intact Homelite 3816c with very little use. Knowing it is a Home Depot homeowner special I still grabbed it. I cleaned it out (maybe cut a few branches by previous owner) gas and oiled it up. Prime, Choke, Pull and it came to life. It was a bit sluggish on the acceleration so I adjusted the carb and solved that problem. I would of never touched those screws prior to watching and listening to your carb tuning video. It’s not what you got but what you give so I sharpened the chain and gave the saw to a coworker as he needed one. Thanks Tinman

TINMAN!!! gotta say I messed around a little with porting but really not knowing what I was doing.... but your videos were great. Just finished up my echo cs-8000p, 32” skip, with an iron horse style pipe. I followed your advice and 3 pulls it fired right up. Runs great, it’s not cracked out but seems like it’s going to be very strong

Thank you Tinman for mentioning the opti2 as I stumbled on to it when it came out and have never used anything since. Universal up to 50:1 and the FD rating is one of the best you can get. I've never seized anything with this mix and it doesn't clog muffler screens or sparkplugs.

@andybecker26933 жыл бұрын
That’s the gospel right there brother. I’ve been using Red Armor for 2 years. Just tore down one of my saws to have a look. Nice film of oil on everything and clean. I’ve used Amsoil too with great results and recommend it too. Never tried Opti 2 only because it’s not available here but a lot of people swear by it. If The Tinman says it’s good then it’s good.

@flatlanderscustomgamecalls49963 жыл бұрын
It saves the recoil starter from taking a beating watch how far the pull handle snaps in when the saw stops
