Fell 400+ dead spruce with mine in Alaska this summer. 20” .325 chisel. Worked perfect. Enough power to bury it in one big cottonwood that needed removal as well. Perfect light little saw for small firewood. 60cc saws are more versatile overall but very few normal sized trees on that property. Huge beetle kill though 👍🏼👍🏼

It should be the same as a later 5105 dolmar. Ive had a 5100SH for 13 years. They were known for lean seizures from the factory but trimming the limiter caps cures that. I would guess that would have a 13800rpm or 13500rpm limited coil. Some of the ones without the car muffler and the 5100s had a 14500 limited coil. Great little saw would put it between a 346xp and 357xp but better bottom end torque. Mine runs a 3/8 .050 full comp 20" with no problems.

That type of flocked air filter cleans up real good with hot water and dish soap, swish it around in a bucket and then rinse off with cold water and let it air dry.

Looks the same as my Dolmar ps-510. There great saw. I’ve had mine since 2014, bought it brand new . Only had to put a coil in it till this year when I think I lost a crank seal. I would love to see you build this saw. They have lots of power for a 50cc saw and I can only imagine the potential with some modifications. Love the channel and can’t wait to see what you do with it.

I used to buy "junk" saws of people for next to nothing, change a plug, maybe a fuel line, sometimes just fresh fuel and have a good runner. Often I'd turn em around for a nice little profit with 30 minutes or less work into them

Your 44 and 357 husky has the same bar mount. Canadian Tire or Amazon has an oregon 18-inch .325 Speedcut narrow kerf combo for 75 bucks. The 5105 non cat muffler should bolt right on. Looks like someone fogged the saw before putting it away. Great find.

Tinman !!!!!!!!!!!!! She’s a runner for sure! Congrats! Thanks for positive comments on the DolKita. I picked up the last version of this saw, on clearance from Home Depot, as Makita shut down the Dolmar Factory as well as all their Gas OPE. BOO Makita 😠 They have an easy start system, but mine has always been hard to start, but once running, and broken in, cuts like a banshee! As ‘antonephillips’ says, muffler mod, and a good 18 inch Oregon lightweight bar and good chain, and I will put it up against any other 50CC saw! Stay safe, eh 👍

I bought a non runner Makita, it looked well engineered when I pulled it apart, although it ended up in the scrap bin because parts were difficult to get because of its age.

The catalytic converter has to come out of the saw, then it runs better and doesn't get so hot. It's almost like a Dolmar Ps5000. greetings from Germany

I have a Murysama which was bought by Dolmar/Makita. Same saw as yours, but needs a cylinder and piston. . Very difficult to find a cylinder kit for it!

I ran poulan husqvarna ,Johnson 45-55cc saws growing up. When I finished high school in 2006 I bought a Dolmar 5100s and it was a hot rod in my opinion compared to those saws. Fast revving and high revving. Awesome limbing saw for Newfoundland. I used that same saw up until a few years ago and still got it but now living in Alberta dealing with bigger trees I move up to the 70cc saws. Build a muffler for that saw or gut that stock one and it will be a little ripper

A quick research tells me that this saw takes an Oregon K095 bar. The Dolmar PS-510 is the same unit.

Hey Tinman if you ever need a seal on the clutch side its the same as a stihl 031 clutch seal. Bearings are hard to come by and they are not cheap.

Nice saw there, Tin. Think very similar to the 5105. I've got 3 of them. Pretty strong 50cc. I'm not sure what the differences are in the 5120, but prolly does have a cat in the muffler, and it's pretty restrictive.

I know here in the states lowes has Craftsman bar nut kit that has a few of every common bar nuts. These 50 cc with some tinkering can really rip.

I bought a Dolmar PS420 10 years ago. Great saw for cleaning up the yard, always starts when I need it and is rated at 2.9 horsepower. You can't go wrong with a Dolmar or Makita. Too bad they don't make any more of them 😞

Late to the party. I have a Dolmar 5105 and it screams without the cat. It has a duckbill tank vent that can cause issue which is fixed by removing It and snipping a corner of it with a scissors. I bought it used over 10 years ago and have had to replace the coil. I have a 20“ sugihara bar with Stihl 23rs NK chain. It‘s fantastic!

I notice it has a spur sprocket which may make it like the mid range PS-510. I believe that model had aluminum case halves instead of magnesium and are slightly heavier. At any rate that was a great deal!

its a dolmar rebrand they are great looks like my 5105 which is on same power as 261 great running saw pulls 18-24 inch bar in soft woods like a bear even stock only down side is the small barmount cant find a longer bar for it but its a strong saw

Dont have any Makita/Dolmar saws in my collection but hope to some day. Only place I've ever seen them locally is at Home Depot in the rental department. Been stopping in every couple months to ask when they're going to sell off their used saws for 2 years lol. Doesn't get much better than that when buying used!

The Makita I rented from Home Depot ran really well and felt solid. (maybe a little heavy , I'm no expert) It dug in and cut with a new chain on it. I thought it had a lot of vibration and torque, being it wanted to twist my wrists and gave me some bad arm pump. (but could just be me, my gas trimmer makes my arms feel rubbery after use) The prices shoot up most likely but at the time they had 3 saws all about the same size priced slightly different, maybe you could tell what was different with them? I guess Makita bought Dolmar and Buckin likes Dolmar so maybe they should be serious about a pro line?

The cats in the mufflers of those smaller saws crack me up, they are avout half the weight of the entire unit and boy do they hold the heat in. Im pretty amazed at how snappy that thing is with the cat and no carb kit. SCORE!

Homelite super ez Oregon 200txlbk095 20" bar Oregon m80 speedcut 20" chain clutch drum that accepts replaceable rim drives found it on eBay from lil red barn but there are others and a 9t rim drive large spline. No mods to saw. I believe it would be near impossible to find a better set up to zip all those branches off you blue spruce trees. I set 1 up with a 20" and one with a 18" little lasers
