Domi Spada, whose recording you shared recently, appeared to be an outstanding Tino Rossi styled vocalist... Now - and far from minimising Spada's talent - when hearing the Master himself, I have to conclude that Rossi belonged to the very top class, superior to Spada. As good as the latter was, Rossi's voice timbre, style, text projection: it is all more polished, utterly smooth, velvety and soft, almost excessively refined and flawlessly perfect.

Rossi gained such a popularity and devotion from an instant that, now wonder, must have had imitators. As my friend Bartek notices cleverly here - every country must have had its Rossi then. And yes, Poland too....:)

@@jurek46pink Absolutely; Rossi was a big star in my country too, although I can't think of any real local contender. Almost half of the population was/is French speaking, and France simply was around the corner anyway. Hence, aficionados listened to Rossi himself.
