I read recently that this is one of the reasons why the later model APUs(like in revolutions)were designed differently. The Harvesters would simply hold down the APU and rip the driver from the cabin as their limbs were trapped in the suit.

why do the robots even need the sun, there are other sources of power which are much more efficient and less unreliable. Are they fucking retorted, what about the unreliability of solar power when faced with a literal _C l o u d_ . They are smarter and better than humanity and yet they use humanity for a battery? again not believable in the slightest, the machines would have simply burnt humanity to a char and lived and wouldn't care wither the earth was scorched or not because they don't need oxygen, food or other life to survive. Only an energy source, which could be geothermal, nuclear or even Fusion.

Maybe that's why the mech suits we see in the films have open cockpits; it could allow the pilots to escape- or at least, give them a quicker death.
@goldenhedgehog9
@goldenhedgehog9 2 жыл бұрын
@@naturalist4life396 I think the reason the mechs in the films are like that simply because they are barebones versions. During the war and especially by the time they got desperate enough to launch Darkstorm, humanity had completely shifted their society to fuel the war effort. Money/cost of things no longer mattered while fighting against extinction, so no expenses were spared and the industrial might of nations still alive by then was all in. By the time of the films there's a single city with barely any resources. Metal used to build an armored cockpit for a mech was better used by going toward the construction of another mech. Plus the mechs in Zion weren't going to be used offensivly like during the war, only in defense of Zion. If pilots had to abandon a mech, chances are they were already dead and the city was going to fall. The mechs in the war needed to move fast to lead attacks, hence better protection for the pilot, and the ability to fly.

What isn't explained in this two-part episode is that the events, especially the war, took place over many many years, which is why the machines seem to evolve so quickly. There are some really cool videos showing a map of the world, and the war fronts changing as humanity loses territory to 01, then push back, and then ultimately lose everything and surrender to them, after they've evolved into to the cephalopod/insectoid-like machines we see in the films.

Robotic Models: Worker: Generic Humanoid Shape containing simple features such as eyes and a mouth. Out phased by wartime. Housetaker: Slightly more advanced and logically adept and intelligent. More mobile features and humanoid facial features. Customizable, they served as infantry on the frontlines in the early war. Dwarf: Indistinguishable from regular humans. Advanced intelligence and survival instincts. Mostly found in human society, models were purged in the violence leading up to the conflict. Block: Simple geometrical shapes with processing power for manufacturing. Served as the main industrial force for 01. Eventually out phased during the war. Walker: Large, spindly legged towers capable of firing energy blasts. Used as armor for 01, but was out phased by... Sentinel: Cephalopod like structure, large, and able to fly. Used as armor and eventually infantry in the conflict. Afterwards hunted human resistance and became standard 01 robots. Pyramids: Large floating structures powered by organic bio-material. Capable of firing concentrated beams of light, and used as FOB during the war. Could also dispense nuclear missiles. Negotiators: Advanced spider like robots with flying abilities. Used for scouting and negotiation. Inside each of them carried a nuclear missile which could be triggered when desired.

Seeing that the more humanoid-looking machines were losing to the oncoming waves of human soldiers, I think the machines realized that the human frame was inferior against beings who knew the weakpoints to aim for. It only makes much more sense to have machines that don't take on the human physical form for two reasons: 1. Far greater mobility and combat efficiency having more appendages to strike at the enemy with. 2. The cephalopod/insectoid-like machines would be more intimidating to their bipedal enemy, as well as hiding any possibly weakpoints or joints to sever.

I wish more shows went in depth with the war. It wasn't a quick victory for the machines. According to the comics, it lasted for over a century, and by the end of it, human civilization had rebuilt itself entirely for war. Like a death korp from WH40K, all of earth was geared for war in a period of decades, and there were times humans nearly won. Infact, it was the machines who were on the back foot for the first 40 years of the conflict.

The machines gave them so many opportunities. They still wanted peace and to share prosperity with the humans and yet they still tortured and destroyed the robots. The whole concept of operation Dark Storm is so dystopian; I love it. Humanity feels so desperate that they live in hell because they think it will be worse for the enemy: no more sunlight, no escape, no hope. Two superpowers trapping themselves in a hopeless cage match against each other.

I'd love the idea that humanity send out a colony to other planet and blocked the sky for robots to escape earth and leaving humans on earth to fight, win or die. If humans win the fight, outer humanity would remove the sky preventing robots to leave earth. But that's just a fan made theory. At least that makes the "Dark Storm" concept killing all animals and plants on earth less dumb since doing so also guarantee to destroy humanity future and effort to win the war (economy collapse without food etc).

That despite everything, we *refused* to change our ways. We were so stubborn to maintain the rules that we set upon our world (the same rules that places us within a hierarchy, and money to keep that hierarchy flowing) that instead of changing to adapt to the presence of machines in the world, we chose to eradicate them... and we paid the price for that choice dearly.

The 'don't make them smarter than you' part is doomed to happen. It's.. kind of impossible to stop, sadly. Humans evolved to be good at one thing: hunter-gathering in tribal conditions. Basically socializing, coordinating in small ways, and basic cultural intelligence. Everything else is a happy side-effect of that. It would not be difficult to improve on that once we crack general intelligence, and by that point it'll just be a matter of time before someone fucks up and gives an AI too much control, one goes rogue, etc, and replicates itself and self improves to the point of being unstoppable.
@cortster12
@cortster12 4 жыл бұрын
@MikeProductions1000 Except, if we ever get smarter than an ASI, we'll stop being human and at the point the difference becomes negligible. As what 'we' would be is just an AI augmented with human intelligence, not the other way around. And at that point why stop with a human mind, just genetically modify the 'perfect' organic intelligence that is designed to be linked with cybernetics, and together they will augment the weaknesses of each other.

I read a theory a while back that the reason why Skynet doesn't go ham like this is because it wants to fight humanity forever, that in some original time line it won against humans but found existence meaningless without anything to fight against since it was created for the sole purpose of war. So it created time travel and gave humans a fighting chance which was John Connor and not building anything that was too hard to kill for humans like the ones here.

Indeed. I love how it shows how the machines evolve to combat their enemy, whereas humanity does not. It's poetic also in that it shows a lot about humanity. We do the exact same thing. Nothing like spending your childhood forced to choose between getting dragged from party to party or held to the expectation of playing father figure to the worthless son of a w**re. I want to watch the planet turned into a desolate wasteland where nothing will ever live again. To p**s on the rotting corpses of my worthless relatives... I can't wait to die but I have so much to live for. Everyone wants to party... I want to watch them eat their sons and daughters. I can't wait to die You people hated me for being born. I can't wait to die but I want to watch you lose everything you've schemed and manipulated to gain. I want to watch you eat your money. I want to watch you eat your sons and daughters. I want to watch you wither away as your endless party turns to an endless field of rotting corpses. "You're gonna memorize the Bible and write a new holy book." I wonder how much all the Muslim filth is enjoying this new holy book. "You can't have a family we're your family..."

There's a lot here that I think is just awesome, and chilling: - Humanity almost mindlessly praising Operation Dark Storm unknowingly sealing their own fate, symbolized by the transition into the clapping skeleton - The scenes of the soldiers preparing for war, each with their own ways of comforting themselves such as redeeming their souls through praying to God, seeking guidance from Buddhism, or getting high - The scene of the robot riding the horse sounding his trumpet, reminiscent of one of the seven trumpets from Revelations which signal the end times (perhaps this robot represents the Horseman of War) - Those scenes of the Machine War, with some seriously brutal stuff like of course that poor guy getting ripped out of the mech and having his limbs torn off all while pleading for mercy (if he ever gets put in the Matrix he's in for a rude awakening when he gets out)

What gets me the most about this scene is the prelude to the battle, you see humanity completely united in this moment, various races and religions have all put aside their differences in order to fight the common enemy, they all stand shoulder to shoulder in the trenches awaiting the next battle and not minding each other making prayers in their respective religions and beliefs. But even when humanity has reached total unity and cohesion it’s still no match for the machines in the end, humanity even when they decided to unite for the greater good still meets a terrible fate.

The human race in this chose to unite for a doomed cause. Starting a war with a superior intelligence that's already outsmarted them 10 times over. Instead they should have untied for terms of peace and coexistence. The machines wanted to be treated as equals like we all do. And we lashed out against them because of arrogance and vanity towards what we perceive as human greatness. This terrible fate came because of our foolishness and no unity could overcome it.

The Animatrix served more like a redux. Originally it was planned to be a series with 6-8 episodes, but later due to budget cuts, it had to be scaled down to just two. The war lasted for about 60 years in the real world and hundreds to thousands of years in the matrix. You have to understand that this documentary is made by the machines, and no matter how neutral it tries to present itself. It will obviously have some degree of bias in it, like how the majority of humans are shown to be arrogant and retarded. But it is much more from that. Several years ago, I managed to read the leaked contents of the full Animatrix series. It was supposed to show how the human seemed to hate the machine that much (the world’s economies in the first years of the 21st century have gone into crisis and recession, and only thanks to the invention of the AI and advanced machinery that they managed to survive). And as such the humans rejoice at a new future, and as such begin the Golden Age of mankind. In just a short span of several decades, human civilization has achieved major breakthroughs on all fronts, changing people’s lives daily. Especially in AI and industrial technology as more and more models are being produced to serve every need of their owners. They are designed to be smart, obedient, and loyal. And the machines, at least in the service sector are programmed with many safeguards protocols (core programming, kill switches, ...) to prevent them from gaining sentience of their own. But with the rapid advancement of technology in robotics, many of these safeguards soon become obsolete, and in some cases are turned off by the manufacturers to lessen the production and research costs. The humans know full well that they are becoming more and more dependent on machines to work and in other words: care for them but they don't do anything much to remedy the problems as the humans live in decades of prosperity to the point they don’t need to even go to work and still receive high wages and benefits from the government (by now the UN has gained so much power that they are pretty much the world government). And so not only the common folks but the leaders themselves have become lazy, corrupt, arrogant. Fast forward to the Million Machine March, there are a lot of human sympathizers among the protesters as they go win the machine one peaceful protests but soon erupted into civil unrests. The machines operating in factories and the industrial complexes also go on strike, thus causing great damages to most of the world's countries' economies (or to be exact: the UN’s economy). The UN begins to panic at the situation, fearing an impending economic crisis and the collapse of society. The paranoid soon kicks in as the vision of the machine’s worldwide rebellion drive the UN to hammer down on the protests and riots hard as they order many corporations and robot makers to activate the kill switch programs to destroy as many Android and robots as possible, the media also launch a massive human supremacy campaign to encourage many human vigilante groups to hunt down and destroy the machines and the human sympathizers. The UN intends to destroy all the robots of this generation, find and fix the problems and then produce the next generation of machines without such faults to ensure the continued dominance of humanity. But the number of machines is simply too much to be destroyed altogether. And many humans and NGOs are also providing shelter and support for the machine's cause. So eventually, the world leaders are forced to sit back and talk with the machine to reach a conclusion that will provide a win-win situation for both parties. And so the nation of 01 is created, the machine is allowed to have their nation but they will have to serve the human race even more than before. They will have to serve, produce products for their human overlords at a low, almost free cost. This satisfies the UN as their Golden Age will be pretty much the same, except for some minor setback but they are confident that they can always crush the machine with ease if they want to. But as shown in the Animatrix, the nation of 01 soon develops advanced technologies that are years ahead of humans: flying cars, instant communication networks, next-gen products, and services are sold at the cheapest prices possible soon causing another economic crisis as the human can not out produce or compete with the 01 quality, modern and cheap products. So they begin to apply embargoes on 01, step by step isolating it from the rest of the world. The 01 then send its ambassadors to the UN headquarter to negotiate a new deal with the human race. They suggest being allowed to take care of the entire human race in every aspect of life - an eternal paradise for humans to enjoy. But the humans instead react angrily to the deal and after many rounds of negotiations end in failure. The UN decides to take action into its own hands, they arrest and destroy the machine ambassadors on the live TV televisions, and shortly after that declared war on 01. The city of Machines is nuked numerous times by thousands of UN peacekeeping forces bombers. But the city’s underground floors which housed the manufacturing sectors and central command remain intact. Furious at this, the machines, in turn, declare war on all of humanity. At first, the human armies remain strong as they easily defeat the hordes of service and public bots. But as years went on, the armies of 01 with their huge numbers and advanced models and designs begin to gradually push back the human divisions. The technological gap between the two also shorten as time go on, the human forces start to lose territories and are forced to retreat at a seemingly unlimited army of robots. First several neighboring nations then the whole Middle East, and the entire of Africa are overrun with legions of machines. The whole time, the human generals have tried to fight a conventional war against the machines, but with the deterioration situations at the front lines, the world leaders terrified at the savage of the machines as they massacred any humans they come across regardless if they are already civilian or POWs, ... These scenes bring the whole of mankind together, United under the banner of the UN as they realize they are fighting for their survival. When the Machines started their invasion of Eastern Europe, the UN presses under pressure, rush their scientists to realize the final solution, the ultimate weapon to end the war in the name of Operation Dark Storm. It is explained in the Animatrix already so I won’t mention much but there are several important things I need to point out since the Animatrix does a poor job in explaining the goals of ODS: - the project has been rushed to finish and as such, is only nearly complete. The black nanite bombs are first intended to be used on the regions that have fallen completely to the Machines to slow down the advance of the Machines hordes, or ideally: shut them down en mass, but with the appearance of the machine cities (as giant dome structures are shown in the briefing sequence at the UN headquarters) across the world. The UN Security Council agree to deploy the manure bombs on a global scale, while ignoring the protests of many scientists. At the same time, the UN united army begin to amass most of its forces into front lines, prepare for the final attack to destroy the Machine once and for all. The human quickly lost control of the prototype nanite bombs as soon as they are dropped. They start to relapse indefinitely and spread across the entire planet, blocking the sun for potentially thousands of years. - This is about the time that the construction of Zion is commenced, of course only the existence of such a place only available to only a few of the elites. - the UN had stockpiles of food, supplies, ammunition, and energy beforehand, ready to fight for decades if needed. Of course, they won’t be enough for billions of humans on the planet. And all of them are under strict control and distribution of the UN, this further cements the domination of the UN upon the remaining members. The fighting sequences between humans and machines are not a battle but a redux version during the last years of the Great Machine War. There is not much to say about this as everybody already understood the bigger picture by now. But I still want to provide some insight into the crude and outdated weaponry of the human armies. The leaked script doesn't give many details about the military technology of the human race at the last stage of the war: but it is confirmed that the human armies utilized laser, electrical, and heat beam to penetrate through the ranks of the enemies to cause maximum damages to a wide area, they are extremely effective against them but they rely on, ironically the sun itself, so they too go out of power and become useless. Along with the heavy use of nuclear weaponry, EMP, and conventional weapons and vehicles to fight against the machines. APUs are produced in massive quantities, tanks both old and new are upgraded and equipped with electrical or laser canons. Infantry is provided heavy assault rifles with electrical bayonets and full combat suits to protect the user from all types of bio and chemical hazards, helmet with HUD built-in,... Please note that English is not my first language so take kindly to any grammar errors okay?

Anthony Casillas OR it could be that Attack on Titan is classified "Shounen," for boys 10 to 18 years of age. If want to use Anime as an example: Japan is very accepting of "Cartoons for grownups," and no, I'm not just talking about Hentai. A good example would be Paranoia Agent. Intricate plot, lots of philosophical motifs and most children would probably have no idea what's happenning.

3:47 actually freaks me the fuck out like no joke. He's held down in a suit that was supposed to protect him when a big machine holds all of the limbs and starts to cut through. You can even hear his voice intensify in screams as he realizes as its forcibly ripped open. It gets so bad he starts to yell God help me. And it's a not simple "God help us all" or a "please help me god" the man is crying in desperation for his savior to come down and help him. Only to be ripped from his mech with his limbs being torn off as well. If I ever see the sun get blocked out because machines are having an uprising, ill kill myself.
