Thanks so much! It's always important to play to the song. A lot time drummers including me, play way too much and don't let the song breathe. I have been trying to work on playing what's right for any given song.

Really great video, I liked it cuz it was easy to listen to you. Laid back with good production and decent sound from the 10" snare, low tone my man. Fine machine like playing at the set, the music was very good man. Congratulations, top audio/visual with yourself as the boss.

Looking at this in 2024 and I am considering the Gretsch mighty mini this could sell it to me ‘cause I have short legs and man spreading around a big snare is a bit uncomfortable 😂

I have a cheap pearl poplar 10"x5" snare. Sounds fat and great when I put an upside down 10" head on top of the batter head, paid about $100 CAD for it about 15 years ago

That's awesome! It's so exciting to experiment and find sounds we like. Thanks telling me about your snare and thanks for watching!

IMO it actually sounds pretty good, deep enough for my taste and perfect for my future portable drumkit. i'm also looking for piccolo snares, so maybe i can try the lower tuning myself lel.

Great video Dude. I like the sound of that snare. Just ordered a Pearl Artisian 5x10 snare after seeing this.

I use a 10 aquarian reflector head, it's plenty fat. Also evans hydraulic heads will do wonders

Thanks for making this video. I’m getting a Gretsch mahogany 12x6 for low volume playing and still need to make it fat. Hopefully I can do it! Incredible playing as well.

Hey thanks for watching I'm glad you enjoyed. Don't worry I'm positive you can make a 12 inch sound way better than my 10 inch snare.
@chromebull8842 жыл бұрын
You can! Also completely detune some of the lugs to get it extra deep.

with a band i tour with we use a Sonor 13x7, using a bigfatsnare donut to dampen the resonance, fattest snare ever. btw the benny grebb is 13x5,75
@drew_the_drummer3 жыл бұрын
Dude that awesome! The bigfatsnare works wonders I use the original for my pearl 14x6 and it sounds great. Thanks for letting me know the size of Benny's snare

@@drew_the_drummer we have a benny grebb in the studio, sounds amazing in every tuning

I have a cheap 10”x6” snare by griffin and I can get different sounds from it. Made some changes. Replace the top hoop more thinker and also the drum head Remo coated control or clear block dot and replace the bottom snare wire more wider Now is my main snare. The sound is fabulous.

That's awesome! I've never thought about using a 10" as my main snare. Thanks for the comment!

dope vid! also possibly throwing a cloth over it would add a little more to the sound, pitch and thickness.
@drew_the_drummer2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! You are right it probably would have made a wee bit thicker

Depends on what you call fat ?? Dry in its self can be fat ! Keeping those heads looser helps .

Great video. But having "Pearl" and "Mapex" confused got me. :D There are some great "Deep Vintage" or so heads by Aquarian out there, that really make fat sound. That would be cheated in this context, though. Great playing, also.
@drew_the_drummer3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. Yeah I'm sorry about that I definitely ment to say Mapex.
@blackasthesky3 жыл бұрын

@drew_the_drummer3 жыл бұрын
I am using Sabian cymbals, 18" HHX Complex crash, 8" AA splash, 22" AAX Omni, and for hats I am using 2 16" crashes and finally a stack I made out of 3 old and cheap cymbals

Yes, the most common mistake is to crank reso head.
@drew_the_drummer2 жыл бұрын
Yep gotta tune those reso heads the right way or the drum won't sound right
