That is one awesome little layout. Hard to believe it's only a 4'x6'. So much going than just trains going in circles. As we say in Texas, "You done good". That little kiddo is going to be happy. From Texas.

I love this down to earth approach. After watching enough of the master builders, making layouts indistinguishable from reality, it’s easy for newcomers to give up before they even get started. It’s a model, it’s a hobby, and having fun is the only important part. Now I got the urge to make one myself.

Good job on the layout. I like the 3D printed trusses and pretty creative idea to clump up the grass to give some texture to the scenery.

4x6 is about the most I can work with in my apartment and this looks amazing. Would love to see a track plan and maybe adapt scenery to be a mix of stuff from places I've lived in Texas and Arizona over the years.

Love your layout. Looks great. I built an HO scale train on a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the 80's. I made a switchboard using toggle switches from Radio Shack so I wouldn't have to go around the table. No internet then just magazines to get a design. I sold it along time ago.

When I was 6yrs we had an O-gauge, 3-rail track layout on a ping pong table with extensions. Lots of switching and houses/details but no relief in the layout, all flat. Switching controls were at the main control board. I remember it had a conveyor log loader, a milk car and a steam engine and other engines and cars. I loved it, then we moved to a place with no room, and that was that, so now I live vicariously on YT channels. Nice to see you build a pretty and functional layout for your friend's child.

Looks great. A creative track plan with lots of interest in a small space. Watching you do scenery so easily and quickly it’s obvious that you have an artistic bent.

I think you would have a more economical result by mixing the glue with some water, then adding a few ounces of liquid dish soap in a sprayer. It might be quicker too. Otherwise, great project & result.

Wow very impressive. A big difference from when my dad and I built a layout in the mid 70’s. 4x8 sheet of plywood 1x4 and 2x4 frame. A roll of simulated real grass paper. I still have it in my basement, the board , all buildings scenery and trains. All the boxes fell apart but now it’s all in plastic bins. Most likely when I retire I will get it all going again. I really enjoy your channel. Also the Olds 98 Regency. I have a 1969 Olds 98 Holiday Coupe.👍

I really enjoyed this video! I think you showed that perfection is not the answer, if you look at the real world bushes grow ad hoc, track ballast is adhoc in colour. You have taken a rough and ready format to ballasting, painting and grassing the layout, this then shows a realistic layout.
@RailroadRailfan500Күн бұрын
Great layout build, Harrison. When you applied the ballast right over the turnouts and put glue on them, my heart stopped for a moment, just knowing how hard it is free those moving parts!
