My "something" for today is collecting bins, baskets and organizers I will not use in the future at one spot. The goal is to have a trip to the container this week.

@@MelindaPlainandSimple I am surprised about myself. Also was able to let go of some furnitures this year. Never ever thought that would be possible. First time, that I realy can see the mind shift in the past 4 years. And it makes me very hopeful not to fall back and curious about what's possible to achieve in the next years / decade.

@@MelindaPlainandSimple It happened because of you and other ladies which are willing to share their slow and steady journey of decluttering. There are people which can declutter a lot in one weekend or in one week and feel free and accomplished. For other people it's a LOOONG processs, which needs to rewire our brain. Getting out of old habbits, break through the believing that we also will fail this time (after we made the experience we started so often and failed in the past) and at least - we dealing hard with all the upcoming emotions. So - for me it's a blessing that I found you. You taking it slowly and bring us along. You share your thoughts and always you are inspiring to think about how we can manage our messes, how we can tackle small sections, how we can manage in-between times, how we can learn to be successful in improving and change for better. Big win! You are a big win for my life. I not only believe, that it was a massive impact in my life. It helped me to see, that I am not the only one in the world, which is struggling. The people I know in real life, had not would be able to understand me or giving that kind of comfort in talking about our messes like you do.

Super love the poem today! It would be a great children’s book with fun illustrations. 😊 I have always loved your purple rug and it really brightens up the laundry room. When you were talking about what to do with the unused rolled up rugs, I thought, hey, why not use them on the floors down stairs! Ha! Great minds. 😊 My son prompted me to take out one of the leaves in the dining room table, to create more walking space. Always great to have a helping hand. 🌻🪻🪻🌻

Hey, Carrie! 🤗🌷💕 Thanks! I had the same thought as I was writing it. We bought those unused rugs to use in the basement, but it was always a mess, impossible to put them down. By the time I started decluttering, I wanted them gone. Too high maintenance for me.

Melinda, such a good video today! I love the purple rug in front of the washer & dryer! Really perks up laundry day. 😁 The rug you put over the shag carpet looks cute I think, gives the space some pizzazz . 😊 Thank you to Randy for cleaning up the area and bringing the rugs up for you. 😊 It’s so nice when our hubby helps without being asked. 🥹 I have a little cloth holder for plastic bag storage and when that’s full the rest is decluttered. You are doing a great job on your basement! Great tiny tidy done! 👏🏻👏🏻😁 I am glad to hear the sump pump is working, nothing worse than a wet floor. Thank you for sharing your progress today. @@MelindaPlainandSimple Aloha Melinda! Yes we're building a carport with a roof to collect rainwater into a tank for orchard irrigation. Plus, there are many invasive 'junk trees' on our fence line that need to be cut down. big jobs ... one step at a time. ❤

Hey, sweet friend 🤗🌷💕Yes! I couldn't have gotten the rugs out without Randy. And so nice that he cleaned up all of that stuff that was under and around the rugs!!! And moved the stuff out of that corner too. I emptied the shelves awhile back and told him he could put his stuff there. It was all over the floor. He's been doing it a little at a time. ♥️

A lot of the stuff in those shelves where the rugs were used to be in the floor on top of and around the rugs. When I emptied them out, I told him he could put stuff there. One day I noticed he had been doing it. A little at a time, that stuff was off the floor and onto the shelves. Now, finally the rugs are gone too. He's actually a really good helper. ♥️

A tip I do when it comes to plastic bags, is every time we get plastic grocery bags in the house I always check them for holes and I throw any of the ones with holes away, and the ones without any holes I simply fold them and put them into a storage bin, and we keep the storage bin of plastic bags nearby the kitty litter boxes in the same room which makes it super easy and convenient for when it comes time to cleaning the litter boxes! We love using plastic bags for cleaning the kitty litter boxes too!

We use them too. If they’re really thin I will double them up so they’re secure enough to hold the weight of the litter.

I use grocery bags too for changing liter but I have an abundance so if I have some still left the next time each time ( well more like once a month or every other month) I go to grocery store I go ahead and take some to recycle as I will be getting more new ones at the store when I shop for groceries. Publix has a spot for the bags right outside the store. Each week there is always more bags where those came from.

Hi Mel! Have you seen those grocery bag holders? It’s a long tube like cloth bag with hole at top and bottom to stuff your plastic grocery bags in and pull one out from the bottom. You can stuff a ton of bags in them, it holds a lot! I have one hanging in my pantry. Maybe get one those? That would free up space on your shelves. ( we use those bags for liter too)

I've thought about getting one, but my fear is we won't actually take the time to stuff the bags into the bag. Or we'll forget to use them. 😂 Now that the area is getting cleared out a little, maybe it's time to try. 😊

I was really happy. It was rainy, so we couldn't just put them out by the curb. One lady wanted two for the theatre group. The other lady wanted one for her daughters new apartment. It worked out well and they were gone quickly. Yay!

I got a second vacuum cleaner so I can have one in the basement now, I swept the rug right after I recorded that, but I didn't film it. 😂 We don't use that shower, but when our friend comes in town to visit, he uses it. 😊
