We all (all living, breathing, able to feel emotion) should be able to feel the sun upon their face, breath in fresh air, feel raindrops on our head, feel the grass under our feet, do things that make us feel alive and smile. Everytime an animal is rescued from a petting zoo, from being held hostage their entire lives, i just think about all the animals who spent their entire lives in captivity. No animal deserves that. I am happy for this little one though, that shot of him in the tree is so beautiful im tearing up 😭 I hope he lives a long happy life 💗💗

@@TwinkleToes-mm4kb I’d say it’s unnecessary stress for the animals. I’ve never seen a petting zoo try to use animals for an educational purpose. I’ve only seen them around to make a quick buck. They’re basically circus animals just without the abusive training. It’s pretty much America’s version of those weird animal cafes you see in Japan that claim to be rescues but they never are.

A farmer we know raises zebras and camels and horses and all of it and does the petting zoo to support her business. I plan to have a petting zoo sense my farm will be a no meat farm. Have to get money to pour money back in

@@KaitlinHopson There's one here that only allows people to touch the animals if the animals want to be touched. There's a monkey with an enclosure, and he has a TV in there, and there are times he just wants to watch the TV, so the keepers don't make him do otherwise. It's basically known that you might be paying just to see the animals. But they have a young kangaroo that's an attention queen, and he'll follow everyone around for treats and pets almost every day, to the point when he doesn't want to, they call in their vets. It doubles as a rescue, so all these animals were illegal or abused pets to begin with, and have been rehabbed and shown to be friendly. But, since this is the USA, the exotics can't just be released; the petting zoo/rescue can't afford to ship them out. The key is making sure the animals have their own spaces, and making sure they know they control when they get attention. If they don't want attention, they're in spaces comfortable and safe to them. When they do, they come out to wider areas and get the attention they want, and then are allowed to leave back to their spaces when they're done.

Petting zoos with inappropriate animals*. Just like dogs, all animals are specific with when/how they want attention. Animals that are stressed easily or shouldn't be in captivity, like monkeys or foxes, should not be part of a petting zoo. But plenty of animals like horses, goats, donkeys, rodents, or sheep, often have individuals with the right personality for a social setting. It should be judged on an animal-to-animal basis, as long as all of the animals involved are at their healthiest.
