Crossing off the days on a wall calendar helps if you have a parent with memory issues so they know what day it is.

It also helps children to understand that not every event will happen tomorrow. (And as one, who currently doesn’t have significant memory issues and who understands the passage of time, I find it very satisfying and encouraging. Especially when going through a stressful time.

I found what really helped me was to set up reminders in my phone - just a simple checklist of everything I need to remember to put in my planner in order for my day to go smoothly. Otherwise when it's first thing in the morning and the caffeine hasn't kicked in yet, I stare stupidly at my planner wondering what to do next, instead of actually planning 😂

You're such an inspiration! Your "check off the day" habit helped me finally figure out what to do with the vertical year in my Weeks: I will check off every day where I've made progress towards any of my goals. (Thank you for the thought and time you put into your videos. They really get to the core of planning.)

Hey! Great neurodivergent minds think alike. :) I love the exact same Juice Up pen and I have a bunch of them. For a multipen, I prefer the Hi-Tec-C Coleto because I like the Hi-Tec-C green and blue ink a lot better than the Juice Up green and blue ink. I was so excited to see a Juice Up multipen, but the green and blue ink just bummed me out.

I can vouch for your first tip - I discovered ages ago that having shading fountain pen ink (which dries darker in some spots than others, for those not into fountain pen lingo) is absolutely key to me wanting to use my planner regularly. It even affects my planner choice - some papers show it off better than others. What cover do you have on your planner? I love the color!

Context James Clear, an American writer and author of the bestselling book "Atomic Habits," has made significant contributions to the field of personal productivity and self-improvement. With a background in biomechanics and experience as a performance coach, Clear emphasizes the importance of making small, consistent improvements over time. He believes that these incremental changes have a profound impact on achieving long-term goals. Clear's work highlights the role of habits in driving success, emphasizing that by developing productive habits and eliminating unhelpful ones, individuals can create lasting positive change. One key theme in Clear's teachings is the impact of planning and organization on productivity. He emphasizes that effective planning allows individuals to prioritize tasks, allocate resources efficiently, and stay focused on their goals. By implementing strategies for effective planning and organization, individuals can optimize their productivity levels. Another central theme explored by James Clear is the role of habits in achieving goals. He delves into the psychology behind habit formation and behavior change, providing insights into how habits shape our actions and outcomes. According to Clear, by understanding how habits are formed and leveraging this knowledge to develop productive routines, individuals can overcome obstacles more effectively. Looking ahead to future trends in personal productivity and self-improvement, there is likely to be continued interest in these areas with a focus on sustainable approaches. As society becomes more aware of burnout risks associated with excessive focus on productivity alone, holistic approaches that consider work-life balance are expected to gain traction. Additionally, advancements in technology will likely provide new tools for supporting habit formation and enhancing overall productivity. In conclusion, James Clear's work has significantly contributed to our understanding of personal productivity and self-improvement concepts. Through his emphasis on small improvements over time as well as planning skills combined with habit formation techniques he provides practical strategies for achieving long-term goals effectively. Learn More - jamesclear.com/marginal-gains Marginal Gains: This Coach Improved Every Tiny Thing by 1 Percent Here’s how the math works out: if you can get 1 percent better each day for one year, you’ll end up thirty-seven times better by the time you’re done. Conversely, if you get 1 percent worse each day for one year, you’ll decline nearly down to zero. What starts as a small win or a minor setback accumulates into something much more. - www.verywellmind.com/ways-to-boost-your-productivity-7480441 8 Ways to Boost Your Productivity - Verywell Mind Self-Improvement. 8 Ways to Boost Your Productivity. By. Sanjana Gupta. Updated on April 19, 2023. Medically reviewed by. Steven Gans, MD. PeopleImages / Getty Images. Feeling unproductive can be stressful and frustrating. If you’ve been struggling to be productive, there are steps you can take to improve your productivity levels. - jamesclear.com/the-1-percent-rule The 1 Percent Rule: Why a Few People Get Most of the Rewards - James Clear The 1 Percent Rule states that over time the majority of the rewards in a given field will accumulate to the people, teams, and organizations that maintain a 1 percent advantage over the alternatives. You don’t need to be twice as good to get twice the results. You just need to be slightly better. Counterarguments While the idea of making small, consistent improvements to achieve long-term success may seem appealing, it is important to recognize that this approach may not be effective for everyone. Different individuals have different circumstances and challenges in their lives, and a 1% improvement may not have a significant impact on their overall well-being or success. Additionally, relying solely on small improvements may not be sufficient in situations where more substantial changes are required to address underlying issues or challenges. Furthermore, while finding a favorite pen or associating planning with fun or luxury may make planning more enjoyable for some individuals, it is important to approach planning as a practical and purposeful activity rather than solely relying on external factors like pen preferences. The effectiveness of planning depends on the content, structure, and organization of the planning process rather than the specific pen used. Similarly, while small planning hacks can potentially lead to big results, it is crucial to evaluate the relevance and applicability of each hack to one's specific circumstances and goals before implementing them. Ultimately, building sustainable habits requires developing intrinsic motivation, setting clear goals, and creating a supportive environment tailored to individual needs and preferences.
