Q. What software do you use?
A. Simon's Cat is made using Adobe Flash / TV Paint / CelAction animation software.
Q. Why does it take so long to make each Simon's Cat film?
A. Animation is a slow process and Simon’s Cat films pay particular attention to observed, real life cat behaviour. Historically the films were traditionally animated frame by frame. More recently we use Celaction which has sped up the process but still requires a lot of care and attention. Each film takes approximately 6-9 weeks to make, depending on complexity, number of characters and special effects.

I love Simons cat and kitten. I have two types of cancer plus severe arthritis. Staying alive is a constant struggle with chronic pain. I was watching the part where Simon's cat was hissing at the mirror. And my cat, a lovely tiny tabby, comes running at me at full speed with the biggest tail I have ever seen! She jumps up and starts cuddling with me, meowing at full speed! She was so startled! My hat of to you Simon for making confincing cat sounds and freaking out my cat!

I once had a cat who spent his whole life in a cage. So when we got him, for the entirety of the time we had him, he'd always have kitten-like traits for whatever reason. During "kitten crazy time" a good few times as i was sleeping he uses my face as a jumping platform as he flew around the house. Dragging his claws the full length down my face as he launched himself off of me.

My favourite Simons cat is when he is caught by the rambling hedgehog. It packs me up every time. How many of us have been caught like that by a person who just talks non stop. I really envy the fact that the cat can throw something at the hedgehog and run off. How many of us have wanted to do that but social graces prevents us. You are an astute observer Simon.

the 'copycat' ones reminds me of when i had a job cleaning kennels at a vet clinic. we had three resident cats there. two adults and one kitten (none of them were related. All rescues) and the kitten followed them and would try and mimic whatever the adults did. When the tom-cat drank water from the dripping faucet (for some reason he only drank water this way) the kitten followed his lead.

I had to laugh at the bed sheet segment. A former feral kitty chose us as his new family, and we discovered early on two things: 1) his claws are still very sharp and 2) if you toss a blanket over him he will play with it as well as a toy. You can court danger by pressing different sections of blanket and thus distracting him...at a cost. my brother got a few scratches that way :D
