VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Nicole and Charlie had no experience before diving into their DIY build of a 2003 Thomas HDX. The kitchen stands out with the complementary colors against the large butcher block counter. There's a side-by-side mini-fridge, Furrion stove, and an under-mounted sink sourced with a 100-gallon water tank. Besides the washer/dryer combo, the other addition they chose was a Cubic mini woodburning stove. It's perfectly placed in the hallway to adjust the fan in whatever direction they need the heat.
There's a herringbone pattern with an accent wall that compliments the hexagon ceramic tile in their bathroom. For the tall ones in the family, they installed a skylight directly above the shower to give an additional 6" in height.
Powering this beast is 1050 watts of solar, a 2000 watt inverter, and 400 amp-hour lithium batteries. Although prepping and painting the exterior was the most challenging part of the build, they're thoroughly pleased with the orange, green, and white representing the outback tones of Australia.

I LOVE it! 👏🎉🎊💃! The bathroom is so spacious. The ONLY thing I would personally do differently is hook up the Pee trap to the Grey Water Tank. Emptying a container of Pee makes me wince at the idea of using a Nature's Head Toilet🚽!😁

@@outbackskoolie I have the exact same door in my apartment of which is a downsize from our family home. I absolutely love the door and feel safer with it to accompany the standard wooden door. The door is a steel security door and very heavy. Your home is lovely. I especially love the space for your hearting source and all the back splashes. The decor on your closet space is amazing. Amen brother! Life is short. Within the last 5 years I lost my father-in-law, my brother-in-law, my mother, my sister, a cousin and two close family friends. The pandemic was the final straw. Love what they did with this bus! An actual real (and very pretty) bathroom! A washer/dryer! A very cute and efficient wood-burning stove. Separate working spaces. A queen size bed, but also sleeping room for 3 guests. And the decor is so pleasant. Bravo!

I’ve watched gizillion conversions of vans, ambulances and buses - this is the ONLY one I’d actually live in. They thought of everything! Tons of energy, lots of water, storage, heat, future A/C, 2 work spaces, large fridge/freezer, fixed bed, a bathroom that has privacy and separate wet and dry areas, a composting toilet and(!) a combo washer/dryer. Great esthetic to boot. Anything I could think of to change is really being nit picky and probably just my personal preferences. Fantastic build.

I remember watching a video on how the "Honey-comb" structure that bees use in their hives is one of the strongest structures in Nature. I had an "Ah-HAH" moment when you explained going over a wash-board road and the tile held up. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense - because if you have a torque force; a twist - the honeycomb / hexagon can absorb the energy because of its angles! You may have just solved the dilemma of not being able to use tile in RV/mobile living situations. Cool! Beautiful build-out by the way - well done!!

I really like this skoolie bill. It has everything you need and is not cluttered looking. I love every area, but I think the bathroom w/shower is my favorite. They really pack a lot in without making it feel crowded. In a way it has a single wide mobile home feel too it. They make me really want to do a build and live off grid at least for most of a year at the time.💜🦋

Best conversion yet! People who actually understand you don't shit where you eat. Design around the bathroom and kitchen . Everything else is whatever. These other ppl with crappy bathrooms always talk about storage. Screw storage if you can't go potty or shower comfortably.
