A retirement community of like minded people would be great. Have huge piece of property with a nice sized shed in the middle for community classes. Everyone having .10 or .20 of an acres to garden etc if they wanted too and space, so you don't feel like someones on top of you. It would also provide security so if you needed help. There is a guy in Texas that has something like it, but people only stay there short term to try it out.

Another advantage ... I have a motorhome and was able to park it at a medical facility when a friend was undergoing treatment. I was able to be there and visit him when appropriate and he was able to be in the motorhome between treatments. At any rate, whether parking an rv or tiny on wheels at or near a medical facility ... or in my case, I want to continue living rurally as long as I am able (I am 66), but if I eventually need to be closer to people/medical, moving a tiny on wheels means staying "home" as long as possible.

I need room for my herbals, canning jars, board games, books, knitting, computers, off-season clothes, tools for husband to fix things. Self-sufficiency never looks tidy or small to me. I got shit everywhere, but its clean, organized and we're never bored or needing help. I see tiny homes and imagine someone on the computer. If it forces you outside, what are you doing? Absolutely love her place so cute. I love how she colored coordinated everything to match and blend in together. I love her voice and her way of explaining things. Imagine her reading a book out loud at bedtime, I would go to sleep like a baby. She mentioned she has grown up kids and I must say they are lucky and blessed to have her. She is intelligent and very loving she will be one amazing grandma one day her grandchildren will love her so. God keep blessing this lady always🙏❤

I'm 26 years old and I love how she define her living. I want to replicate everything that she does in terms of living without TV, wifi just the phone data connection is fine and her contentment of everything she has. Jezz! I love everything about her home except from that 9 windows for a tiny house but its all up to her, she's the boss! ❤

That’s an adorable home! Being in the medical field for years, I can tell you that as she ages that loft will not be very accessible and dangerous if she falls, especially that tub in her shower. I know she said she was going to sleep on the guest bed as she ages but that’s then a lot of space she can’t access. I’d love to see more ideas from ‘older’ tiny house occupants to see how they manage.

Hopefully the fact that she navigates these stairs on the daily will increase her longevity to be able to do so. She could have a small, short elevator system installed. That is less expensive than buying a new place.

The sliding pocket door is awesome...I may have to try this out. Love how it takes less space than regular doors. Since my husband passed 10 years ago I've learned that using power tools is not that hard.

Pocket doors are a great idea in any home. So Are shelves built into the wall. Great for plants and knick knacks. And in kitchens for a spice cabinet and canned foods. Instead of door front, hand a curtain that matches the window curtain. Hand crafted homes displaying owners own personality have way more charm than cookie cutter made from Menards and home decor stores.

If anything, this lady has reminded me of the basic rule in life, going back to the basics and the basic rule is we need the basic things to live. Retiring is an important phase in one's life. It can be a sad phase, but going back to the basic necessary things to live on, is everything we need, don't we? Thumbs up to this lady who's making her next move a smooth one while enjoying it.

I had to retire at 62, but with the changes I made, living on less than a $1k was doable. Not great, but I managed. This year I got a bump in Social security because my ex finally was eligable (he was younger than me). Now I really do feel very blessed, and quite confidant I can live on less if I ever needed to again.

My whole life has been "biting off in manageable pieces." I liken it to climbing Mt. Everest. Once step at a time. You may have to go backwards a few times, but you just keep your eyes on the top of the mountain and put one foot in front of the other. My goal, because I had been self employed with no retirement plan, was to buy a duplex so I would always have that second income. I raised the kids in the large upper part, and when they were gone and had their own families, I moved into the small, one bedroom apartment and rented out the larger upstairs. Going small has really worked for me. I love my space, and being downstairs, I have been able to create a nice outdoor garden and living space that I did not have access to when I lived upstairs (where I had a large deck, but no garden.) I basically live in a library, however, because although I downsized a lot, I just could not bear to give up my books. But no TV and no cell phone saves me at least $200 a month, my portion of the heating oil is half of what the other part of the house used, and no stairs to climb. I am very happy with the outcome. I really love the design on this tiny home; she has done a marvelous job and the décor is very homey. It sounds like she thought this out very well. One step at a time. Love it.

Her house is sustainable beyond the fact that it's tiny - she isn't one of those people who is attached to sleak design so she repurposes what she can (the mirror in the bathroom, what a great idea).
