VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
When you combine an interior designer with the desire to simplify a living style, you get a gorgeous tiny home! Previous to this small space, Sydne lived in a large apartment filled with furniture that was only meant to occupy the space. After realizing she wanted to go tiny, she approached downsizing with a six-month regime, and if she hadn't used it or needed it in the last six months, it was tossed!
She designed her tiny home with high ceilings and a unique raised living room floor giving her additional space below. The kitchen is compact but highly efficient, with plenty of storage and versatile counter space. Her loft is cozy, and the bathroom is comfortable with everything one would need. The focal point of this entire build is a stunning composition of art that is accented by a large skylight above. The color and glow of this assortment make for an eye-catching centerpiece.

That's actually a thing that bothers me the most, when people use french glass doors as entry doors and you can't make a step without immediately standing right in the living room. I would not feel comfortable, secure and private in that way and for sure it's harder to clean. If you walk right in with wet, muddy shoes, that's not a nice image. XD . I'd prefer a shoe changing area at the entrance as the japanese people have in their apartements.

Honestly, it's really refreshing to see a tiny home that isn't just absolutely covered with windows. I get it, the windows make a tiny space feel larger but I know I personally wouldn't want a heap of windows either because I'd want to put up artwork and a TV as well, and I also like to be a bit more private. It's good to see a space that balances a nice amount of natural light with a slightly more private tiny home.

I agree on more windows but I love lots of light and being able to see out. A long, thin slice of window above the sofa would be good and pets would like that. On the TV side either 2 tall, narrow windows or moving the TV over a bit for one bigger window on a pleasant view would work. It would need a view though, the house next door just wouldn't work for me. The flow of the house is great with convenient storage, and standing up out of bed to get dressed is amazing. Horses for courses. A properly flexible design to adapt to different tastes. Excellent. It would make a comfortable holiday home for a family with 2 children too.

@@JSkye-uu6dw Just from what I've seen on You Tube Oregon and Texas (and I imagine you have to check each county) are the ones you hear about. Very akin to a mobile home community, theres always possibility that the owner could sell the land, change requirements, etc that would have you needing to find a new spot. Missouri may be a choice if you buy land but keep the house very small to avoid complying to county regulations. Basically its checking with the county and state what they allow. I would have loved to buy land, build a foundation and put a permanent tiny house 400ft on it. Where I lived, not allowed but one could in a rural setting, possibly going off grid. Maybe others have some ideas for you. Bottom line, you'll probably spend more than you expect at least initially.

This may be my favorite tiny home now, even though it doesn't have several of my personal "must-have" features that would likely ruin the spaciousness and excellent flow achieved here. I particularly love the use of different colors, materials, and patterns on different surfaces that allows for the perception of extra depth and dimensionality in this tiny house design. The whole time I was thinking how beautiful and extremely functional it all seemed, and then later in the video she used those two words to describe her goal herself! She truly achieved it. Wow. Job well done! I could totally see myself living in your house. At first I questioned the washer/dryer in the front until I saw the front door, room divider, and storage drawers. It was genius. I’m obsessed with vanlife videos as well, and going without side windows is something a lot of van lifers do too.

Being one to keep pointing out that she’s an interior designer one major faux pas was having a toilet be the sight line from the front to the back of the unit. Anyone would say you don’t want that! You put it around the corner and have a sink or closed off shower there. Not a toilet. Also, I think it is poor design to not have a window to see out of on the main floor. It will feel closed off from the outside world over time. The laundry design at the entry is a nice touch. There’s a separation to walking right into the living area.

The tiny house is lovely. The young lady seems to give considerable thought to her designs. My only concern is the vocal fry she has in her voice. Over time, unless she trains herself to lose it, it can really damage her vocal chords. A voice trainer can help with this endeavor. Best of luck, young lady!

I like the design of your home, but to me, nothing says "home", like being able to crack open a window and let in some fresh air. Perhaps you'll consider installing 2-way fans in your skylight areas? Having next to no side windows keeps noisy neighbors from watching you, and reduces the risk of having your home get burglarized. I love your kitchen countertop space and backsplash tiles, the bathroom design, and the full functioning laundry room. That's an odd spot to put it, but I think it serves as kind of a mudroom as well. Great work Sydne, and may you enjoy many happy, healthy and prosperous years in your tiny house.

The most thought out and well designed tiny home I've ever seen. Not very many people think of having a laundry room which I have always wondered why not. A tiny home should have all of the same features as a regular house. Your kitchen and bath design are awesome and functional for living full time in a tiny house. You would be wise to offer your build and design plans for sale on the internet. I do have one question tho, why didn't you design a couple of side wall slide out expansions like they have on newer motor homes and travel trailers?
@sydnegoldstein637
@sydnegoldstein637 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the nice words! My contractor wasn’t a fan of doing the slide outs due to mechanical complexity, and cost was a factor for not including them, plus I didn’t see a need for them since everything could fit in the space without them.

Loved every layout, the colors, the placement of features, your relocation of HAV, the light factor and placement of windows, the tuckable stove, toilet in bumpout(smart), nice artwork & couch, like fullsize laundry👍, and... the foyer. Could only imagine this place tucked into and acre or two wooded around it. Heaven. The ONLY thing I would add is a small woodstove, so when power goes out , you don't die in your sleep. And a music room.🙄 😄

Sidne: I believe you could make a business out of this tiny house with your design skills . Get a professional to help develop a business plan. From there an architect to render permittable drawings and specifications. Then a small home development firm to do the actual construction and sales. I have watched hundreds of tiny home videos and yours is the first one I was compelled to leave a comment on. Your tiny home is absolutely stunnning! I love the layout of the space as well as the use of skylights for light as opposed to windows that would only look out onto the neighbors and, depending on where you are parked, could be some unsightly views. Your love of interior design is so evident in the details - the colors you chose, all the fixtures and finishes and oh, those stunning kitchen and bathroom tiles! Bravo for a job well done!
