I had that happen in my master bath where I had 8 fosters...one day I walked into my bedroom to water creeping under the door!! I had to borrow a wet vac from a kind neighbor !! I tried to turn off the water, but the valve was stuck, so I duct taped a stick to the faucets to keep that from happening again!😂

my first kitten, Sneaky, was a stray and she loved playing with the faucet in the tub. i'd come home from work late night and it would be flowing full blast, scared me because i thought some prankster had broken in to spook me, til i caught her one day in the act. she also loved looking into the toilet (and falling in).

Our cats did this once. We went away on a 4th of July trip and got a call from our cat sitter that the bathroom was flooded. One of our cats like to sleep in the sink and we kept the plunger in there when we went away. He layed down, clsoed the plunger, someone got in a scuffle and turned on the faucet and it overflowed into the basement. Thankfully, nothing really got soaked. Had to wet vac the carpet in the basement and lift it up to air out.

Never underestimate kittens cause kittens of today (like human kids) are so much smarter and know how to work with electronics and also sinks too.😂😂 I remember that great Tiny flood of 2020 and it was quite funny but definitely very messy for humans to clean up. Technically 4 - one to do the dirty work, two to watch and encourage and the 4th on look out duty - silly kitten forgot to watch the door! HQ got smart too, no more blankets in the sink to prevent the water from draining properly. Flood of 2024 averted!

Then the Aunties would have to get down there and turn the valve on to fill water bowls, etc. The zip ties work well, given that this is only the second time the cats have breached them since the Great Flood. Even more important is not blocking the drain; even fully open, the faucet won't flood if the water can drain out.
