True as it says $13.00 and something once you decide to take the trip. Pick up the order at the restaurant then start the trip and drop off the order as once complete the trip as following the note orders or photo the order to leave note on where you left the order. Then once complete the order the trip was a $6.00 or something trip as you don't keep the $13.00 order as once shown. Then expect a tip as if you get a tip from the customer? As it's deceiving low ball orders as probably no tips at all on the UberEats app. Tell you it is a cold gig economy business on low ball orders of upsets 😡 as it is not fair as they sure won't reimburse you on bridge toll for going to Richmond to Vallejo for a $16.00 as I been declining trips and some I do take but I try not to to cross the bridge going to Vallejo. As I live in the Bay Area doing UberEats.

Hey bro I got a question for you. I’m in Seattle and how is it getting unemployment benefits where you’re at if your receiving it? It’s a lot of barriers they put in place in Seattle for you to get it and I know gig work is one of them. So I wanted to know how it works where your at before the new stimulus package goes through Congress. Thanks and keep up the great work. Your tips have helped me make an extra $25 a night.

customer perspective: I absolutely hate tipping before hand. up until I had too, I used postmates because they didn't share the tip amount and allowed me to tip for good service after. There is a rating system for a reason, and drivers should be allowed to rate poorly for a bad tip. showing you potential earnings defeats that system. It sucks to learn that when postmates switched to ubereats software, this is the reason I've had a hard time getting a driver. Unfortunately until uber eats changes this... I will be projecting 25% moving forward and subtracting from that tip, instead of tipping 15% and upping the tip when things go right. Don't blame the customer... blame your boss' software.

As a customer, it's partially Uber's fault. When I place the order, I enter my tip on the final screen before submitting. Let's say it's $5. Then AFTER the delivery, I always get a screen asking "Add a 18% tip for Bob?" --- this makes it seem like they're asking if I want to add to my initial tip -- and that answer is no -- so I have to unselect the 18% tip they pre-select (ex. $8) and put it to $0 -- not realizing the few times I've done this, that it changes the total tip to $0. It's a very dumb misleading screen which Uber would probably argue they're trying to get more tips for their drivers, but it's making it worse.

@insethurdle88 3 жыл бұрын
I dont agree with this yes it's to make it more promising to the customer but it's also to give perspective on what you should make as a driver. Let's be honest if you look at the fairs as a customer and it's to high you won't use uber eats as much putting a lower demand vs supply of total deliveries, however if the customer sees it as a tip they have the perception its going directly to the driver which means they will put more money into tips vs for a fair even though uber makes very little off the trip fares anyway and most goes to the driver consumers don't know this though (look at your higher fare trips I bet you there's no tip at all I get $7 deliveries go back and look and it was only in fares so no tip). Also if they didn't put the tip in the fare drivers wouldn't take it seeing a $5 delivery and not knowing if you'll get a tip or not or how much.

Tip baiting is definitely a problem. This is unacceptable and Ubereats should not allow customers the option to do this. If anything, a customer should only be allowed to edit their tip if they’re trying to add more money to the tip. The fact that Uber allows customers to remove their tip completely is very distasteful behavior from the company. Hopefully they will address this problem soon and fix the tipping option to show their support for their drivers.

@@PS-js9xw $8 is the max the app will show you for a tip prior to the delivery. They may have changed it afterwards but it is more likely that they tipped you the $36 beforehand and Uber only showed you the $8. (Unless your service was phenomenal :) ). I use this knowledge to try to determine whether a certain delivery will have a large tip or not. For example if the trip is short I figure Uber will pay $2.50, but if the expected pay is $10.50 then I know there is a good chance the tip will be some amount over $8 even though the customer could also have tipped exactly $8. Another reason for the amount going up could also be extended waits at the restaurant.

Important to note that they have an hour FROM THE MOMENT you swipe the “Delivery Complete” tab (if it’s a Hand to Customer order) or click “Delivered” after taking the photo for the Contactless Delivery orders. I have been timing it and it’s been on like clockwork. I would say from personal experience, I’ve only been tip baited 3 times since I started delivering out in Boise, and I keep a mental note of those customers. I deliver to many of the same people, and I remember the crossroads and restaurant ordered. Is it always accurate? No. This is much easier to do on DoorDash (which there is no risk of tip baiting, but I’ll keep track of the pin in cases of unruly/rude customers - lots you can do). However, I haven’t delivered to any of those 3 offenders after the fact and the other 99.9% of customers have been awesome. I find more often that I receive more than what was originally quoted - not sure if this is due to the “Trip Supplement” (you see this a lot with the “Order and Pay” orders when you sit at the restaurant for 20-30+ mins), but I’m sure there have been a lot that just want to show their appreciation. Just my two cents. Happy driving, all!

Uber steals drivers tips too. I had a passenger who told me that he would tip me 20 bucks and he literally did it in front of my eyes, I saw it and was so happy. But you guessed it, when I finished the ride I checked my earnings for the ride, Uber gave me $5 and kept $15. I couldn't believe it so I decided to check earnings the next day, maybe they'd correct it. But still it stayed the same. If you don't get tips, it's a good guess Uber is skimming your tips. The guy tipped me because he had a friend in my car that was drunk and disturbing me, asking for water, then I had to stop the car because she had vertigo and needed to vomit, she took my gallon of water and I had to get out the car to get my cleaning container to hand it to her just in case she vomited in my car. So at the end, the rider decided to show me the tipping process on his app. I saw the whole thing, but uber stole my tip.

Hi Mike, I'm a full time uber eats driver and I'm taking it seriously, I do work hard to do it in the best way that I can, since the expected tip feature started with uber eats here in my market in sept, I got as you said tip baiting 3 times, and it was clear tip bating, I did contact uber eats support and as you have said they didnot do anything about it, so I just kept moving on, because sometimes I still get my tip increased , and I think the experience will help us as drivers sometimes to figure out before accepting any requests if there is a possibility to get tip baiting based on the amount of payout, what time of the day and mostly the area where you dropping it off the order, if the area is not a good tipping area and I receive a request with high payout with the tip thats a red flag and I think twice before I accept it.

I think on Uber Eats is tip baiting themselves not the customer. I think they way the "expect included tip" works its a percentage based on the amount the customer spent on their order. Uber does it to lure us in to accepting these orders, so they can decrease wait times. The reason why we don't always get the tip is because the customer never actually applied the tip to being with, that's just something Uber just led us to believe. After their delivery they get then asked if they would like to give a tip and there are a few options, 10%, 15%, and 20%. With 10% being the "expected tip". At least that's my opinion I could be wrong.

I agree with you! Now it is a big problem!! I have already made many orders when the customer significantly reduced the tip or even removed it, and there was no reason for that, I made the delivery quickly and accurately. I think customers do this on purpose so that their order is delivered quickly, knowing that they can then reduce the tip. This is a very bad feature in Uber eats! I really do not like it! If you don't like the food in a restaurant, you tip the waiter anyway. This principle must be done and in the delivery. I think Uber can't let the customer reduce the tip for no reason.

I start the Tip at 0 ( I WILL NOT comment to a tip for service before service has been served) when the driver accepts and delivers the order I add a tip after the service( through the app or cash). If your not taking my order because there is no tip on the app, your missing out on cash tips or after service tips BUT that's your choice. I know some people use this as some reason to not tip later and it may effect my order BUT I'm paying for my order to be delivered. If it's not delivered I'm not paying for it. The service on the other hand, I do not know what I'm getting or what your idea of decent tipping is so as long as my delivery guy goes to point A and delivers it to Point B in a relative decent about of time and he doesn't throw the food at me then I will happily pay him a bit extra for his service. Although, In my opinion this tipping culture is getting WAY out of hand. Nobody should be asking for tips at all, before service or after. As a matter of fact ALL employers should be charging there customers enough to cover there employees wages tips should NOT be a part of anybody's wages. Tips should be looked at as in insult like "what you think I don't make enough money you think I need a hand out" But that is not the culture in the US so what can you do.

I don’t worry about it because the tip either stays the same or the customer adds to it so it turns out to be more than originally stated. Either way it always shows up later for me. I haven’t had tips reduced on me yet, fingers crossed that it stays that way!

Thanks Garrett, since I usually drive for DD you can see (esp in my Story) that this was really surprising when it came across. But like PM the tips on UE are just very delayed. Unfortunately if there's scenarios where drivers don't check their earnings some tip baiting could slip through.

never knew this was a thing, you would think that uber eats would make the person go through a process and explain why its being subtracted then uber themselves make the decision, that's like going to a restaurant , leaving the tip, then hour later, go back to the restaurant and demanding it back with no reasoning

I have issues with a lot of issues with ubereats, doordash and skip the dishes. It's that fact that they never knock at all, and that infuriates me, so once i've known that they do not knock, i give the driver a 1 star rating, and take back my uber tip for not knocking. No courtesy knock nothing.

@@thedeadguy The norm now is asking for the driver NOT to knock or ring bell, the notification comes from the app real time to let them know, just like knocking the door. So, if you do have a particular preference, just let the driver know so we don't have to guess if the knock will make the customer upset or appreciative. You can always rate your driver on following orders, rather than being a correct mind reader and then it's win-win for everyone;)

I have had reduced tips come through for no known reason. Usually someone else that night tips pretty big so it balances out. I have seen this happen with my stacked orders a few times and what I have started doing is letting the customer know I am coming but I have an order to deliver before them. I don't know if they are informed on their end that their order is a stacked order so I just let them know. Most customers are appreciative and I have gotten bigger tips this way. Even when one tips lower than expected, the other one will tip higher so it balances out and I end up making more than the expected pay for that trip. Communicating with the customer is key and has helped me immensely!

B Diddy I like how you handle your stacked orders by letting them know they have an order to get delivered to before them. That is great customer service. Actually, I do not think any of these apps let the customers know when they have a person's order that is before them to be delivered. I really wish they would inform these customers so that they will know because they deserve to know. It's food - ...and if it gets to them barely warm...they deserve to know why. I have a question for you though...how do your "word" your message to them to let them know that they have someone in front of them? What is the wording that you use? (just curious.)

@@girlygirl1890 Good afternoon/evening, (insert customer name) I have picked up your food and I am headed your way. Your order is a stacked order and I have another order to drop off before yours. My apologies for any delays and I will do my best to get your food to you in a timely manner. Thank you for your patience! I have had customers message me right back saying thanks for letting them know. This led me to believe they weren't informed through the app. Hope this helps!!! I had a $21 order on Uber Eats. I delivered on time and only got $6. I was expecting the tip to show up an hour later and it never happened. Called support and was told the customer removed the tip and basically was told that they can do that. So i know i was tip baited. Most times the tip shows up and i have had a few customers even go in and give me a higher tip. This was my first time that someone just took the whole thing away. 😮😢

The thing with the tip not showing up until later is normal. I had an offer tonight that "estimated" $11.11 and I only got $4.44. 4 hours later, the earnings breakdown still said $4.44 and that the estimate was $11.11. That's tip baiting, or at least tip removal. Either way, it's not ok. I mean, I know where they live now ☠

She was super nice & thankful at the door, gave me a thumbs up (still at 100%) and even noticed she gave me a fast & efficient badge... and reduced it by $1???🤣. Wtf. It was 22 mins from when I accepted the order & delivered it... it was A to B & fast AF. I was dumbfounded? So glad u made this video.

Basically. Tip baiting happens. If it happens, contact support. Won’t get money back, but they can probably mark it in the customer’s profile, if happens frequently, deactivate their account.

My tips (in Uber Eats) never come in sooner than an hour after delivery. I originally thought that they would come in as soon as the customer confirmed it in the app but after consistently receiving the tips exactly 60 minutes after the delivery I have come to the conclusion that you DO NOT get your tip until 60 minutes after delivery. You're not being tip baited when you drop the food off, get back in the car and don’t see your tip. You're only being tip baited when over an hour has elapsed and your still haven't received your tip.

Agreed! I remember when I first started using Uber Eats and I worked my butt off delivery after delivery for about 6 hours and was like wtf I've only made $40??? Then I'd go home, go to bed, wake up and see I had another like $100 in earnings. With DoorDash, it typically gets automatically updated to your running total after delivery is complete. The only time it doesn't automatically update my total is for the people that tip after delivery. I had a $6.55 tip added after delivery 2 weeks ago from yesterday to a customer that ordered 2 chicken sandwiches from McDonald's and only lived 1.6 miles away from the restaurant. It immediately alerted me when he tipped me the $6.55 after I delivered it, but it didn't show up in my earnings until 2 days ago. I personally prefer Doordash for this reason. With Uber Eats, I feel I have to pretty much trust that they are honest with my earning since I can't/don't really keep track.

I refuse to take orders from a customer I know by name. Shes tip bates three times now. I no longer take her orders. If I accept a pick up for her I drop it instantly. And there doesn't seem to be a way to rate the people you deliver too or make a complaint about tip baiting. I complained about her after the 3rd time it happened to customer service but that went nowhere
