Kirk thanks for the detailed explanation of over lays. I'm new to this but built a penobscot bow, although hickory I still want to put over lays on . I can't hear you using my phone without holding the phone to my ear. I am trying to buy tools and collect as much from friends that have stuff that they don't use to build my first take down bow. I am disabled and this has become something to take my mind off pain and the fact that I can't work. it take longer for me to do things the others but I have worked with wood and use to build boats. I have watched alot of KZbin videos and you go through some extra details that truly has gave me more understanding then others. So thank you . I sure can use more information like yours . Thanks Scott Adams.

Scott Adams Hey Scott.... I just now realized I was getting comments on some of my video, and could actually reply to questions. I wasn’t ignoring you. I was just ignorant about this. I applaud your efforts to build bows regardless of being handicapped. I had a friend of mine that was a professional bowyer that became wheelchair bound, and after a short period of time had his shop set up to accommodate his handicap and continued to build quite successfully. Please feel free to email me with any further questions. kirk@bigfootbows.com. Kirk

I have several older recurve bows i want to upgrade with phenolitic tips. A couple are basicaly flat right to the tips as is a couple have some additional material on the tips already. do i need to sand that extra off the ones that seem to have it or can i fill the string groove with something and just put the phenolitis material over top. I have black and red color phenolitis the red is thinner than the black does it matter what order i put it on?

Reuben Stocking Yes I would sand it back to a flat surface , and start from there. Another thing.... if you file too deep and go through all your overlays back to the limb glass, the overlays are not doing any good if the string is putting pressure on the glass.

Hi Kirk.. I plan on doing this on my Bear 76er (Pure Fiberglass) Limb. These limbs came with (what I assume) High Impact Plastic Tips, and after many many years of use, the plastic tips finally cracked beyond repair. Any advice on what thickness Fiberglass Tip Overlay Material, stacked 4 times (like on this video) I should use that would still conform to the curved shape of limb tips?

Archery Outdoors I would recommend.040 - .060 thickness on your layers. You can use fiberglass layers too.

I need help my bow has split down the lib it's all wood how do I fix that
@bigfootbows4 жыл бұрын
Penny Tremblay. unfortunately Penny.... you won’t be able to fix that very successfully. You can try using super glue, and that may hold if the split isn’t very long. But super glue is not very flexible. You could also try epoxy.... but I think realistically it’s time for a new bow.
