Tip Tuesday 35) No Nuts Cymbal Sleeves

If you wrap some electrical tape on the treaded section of a 6mm standard they work fine. I have done this to a number of old Premier Olympic stands and a sonor stand. Great review.

Thank you for this great, detailed review James (and your playing)!!! QUICK QUESTION!! The cymbal you stack at 10:47 was on a 6mm stand... Does that mean that cymbal has a 6mm keyhole? (OR:) Will a (vintage) cymbal w/smaller keyhole (6mm) fit on the uppermost taper of this No Nuts Cymbal Sleeve? All the best! Your Chanel is greatly appreciated!

that splash cymbal fits on any stand (it did come off a 6mm stand but with No Nuts sleeves...if you use there rubber washer you could put a vintage or smaller holed cymbal wherever needed of the sleeve.

To anyone else concerned, it's a big NO on these fitting a 6mm (vintage) cymbal's hole (any part of the No Nuts Cymbal Sleeve's shaft is too large). So... NO WAY and NO HOW.

@@JamesAnimalHarrison Sadly, no; totally impossible. I even tried to shave its edges down, at the top of the shaft... BUT, I *think* if I get a short-ish DOWEL (6mm diameter) and pop it into the top end of the tube (after mounting the No Nuts), it'll maybe work for my needs, so (hopefully) not a total waste :-) Thank you James! (Obviously I can still use this for normal cymbals, as is, so not a waste.) I should mention I'm mounting this on the BAR portion of the Meinl Percussion HMC-1 Standard Multi-clamp One Mount, so not putting it on a typical cymbal stand.

i think the felt will dampen the sound rather than let it ring....

I actually noticed the opposite. I felt the cymbals sounded and sustained better with the felts

@@JamesAnimalHarrison I think maye because the post gets thinner higher and the cymbal as a result moves more freely. I thought it choked them a bit in the store but I might give them a shot as I drum on open jam nights and drummers are pounding my wing nuts off and almost the entire plastic sleeves and felts smh!
