Good question! The pump is in a high rise and city water pressure isn't enough to lift the domestic water to upper floors. The booster pump helps with that!

@@HVACLife the red color threw me off. In LA I do standby service from time to time. If a fire sprinkler system is out of service, the owner has to hire a fire truck for standby service. I just sit there and wait for a fire. My last gig lasted from October to July. Big 13 story building with two pumps, jockey pumps, and lots of associated equipment. Took forever to get everything rebuilt.

Wow that's crazy! Sounds like a good gig for you though :) Commercial buildings are hard to keep going sometimes. Recently, I saw a picture of LA at night and was amazed that the grid can sustain that power consumption. It was light an ocean of lights lol.

@@HVACLife the switch to LEDs is mostly complete for private and public. My gig was near the worst part of LA. 4000 homeless in the Skid Row area. Can't begin to describe everything.
