As a non-American, (I haven’t even visited the country), I just can’t understand why these “servers” have to rely on the generosity of customers to make enough money to live on. They are working for a business that charges it’s customers to eat there, surely they should be paying proper wages so people are able to live. Or being a part of the problem. By tipping, you're enabling the behavior of letting employers underpay their staff and rely on customers to pay their wages. The correct action would be employers raising their prices to pay their employees. But no, they want to be "competitive", so to do that, they're passing on the cost to customers, and if you don't tip, you're the bad guy, rather than the employers themselves. It's great manipulation.

Thank you so much for doing this man. A lot of servers are struggling right now. I have been a waiter for a few years but since inflation & everything people seem to be tipping less even though I am having to spend more in my day to day life. I really think its just because a lot of people are trying to save money in different ways but sadly I am not earning as much as I need to. I know I can go to a different job where I have a better hourly wage but I LOVE what I do and will not be quitting unless it gets to the point that I have to.
