Wow... I so wish I could do this. I give charity to organisations, but in person would feel so much better.. But tipping doesn't exist in Australia... we all get paid enough, and no one in the country is truly poor. I mean I hear these waiters get paid $2 an hour in America? In Australia, the MINIMUM wage for ANYONE in ANY JOB is $7 IF YOU'RE SIXTEEN. The older you get, the higher the wage. And if you don't have a job? The government helps you out. $200 in Australia in nothing.. Maybe one day I'll travel the world and help random people along the way

***** true. I'm only asking cuz in Australia, it's like the national minimum wage for adults is $16, anyone not an adult has different wage like under 16 is $6, at 16 it's $7, 17 is $9 and so on. But then if you are in a better job with more experience, obviously your minimum wage gets higher..
@swithywizzy
@swithywizzy 10 жыл бұрын
Lmao. "no one in the country is truly poor." The distribution of monetary funds via government institutions and the use of government mandates to dictate and manipulate wage controls is not as simple as you seem to imply. Otherwise, everyone over 30 years old would be paid an hourly wage of $100 and everything would be just fine and dandy. It's time to take a class in Economics 101 at your local college, my friend.

There was this waitress in Albuquerque whose mother had just passed away. She found out about it while waiting our table. We found out about it while we were there and gave her an envelope with almost $1,000 in it. She was so grateful and crying and we were crying, too. We're all in our 50s & 60s and our parents have all died some years ago. This young lady was just 17 years old. She hugged & hugged & hugged us all and then the whole restaurant, which was jam packed with customers took up a collection for her. When all was said and done about 30 minutes or so later, we were all bawling like babies when we learned that over $10,000 in cash was raised. She was just a youngster, and I don't think any of us could imagine what we would've done without our moms. She had a great headstart and was able to use the money to pay for her mom's funeral with money left over. Breast cancer is a horrible disease. Any cancer is a horrible disease. We still think of her a lot. This happened in 1999 and by now, she's 30 or 31, and I know she hasn't forgotten how people have responded to her very public, but personal tragedy. And these darling people made a lot of people's day. God Bless them one, God Bless them all.

i remember i had a table where the kid kept telling me we had a kids desert menu. I've been working in this place for well over a year and i assured the parents there was no such thing. They understood and the father simply told me to humor his young son. So i quickly made a simple "Kids Desert Menu" featuring some of our deserts. The kid was please and the father looked at me with wide eyes and said "You didn't have to do that" i smile and shrugged it off saying it wasn't a big deal and I'm an art major so i was happy to do it. Their bill was $40 and they left me a $20 tip. It's people like them and like you guys that i still can enjoy my job, even if most of the time i absolutely hate it. :)

+William Reid In some states now (including California where I live). Tips are seen as a bonus for working in that industry. I currently work as a To-Go Specialist (a tipped position) and am moving to server soon. I make $10 + whatever I make in tips. So today I made $42 in tips and I worked 3 1/2 hours. So in total I made roughly $77. This is the case in only like 5 states. It's crazy to me.

Not with that elitist attitude, you don't. I'm pretty sure they aren't doing any of this for likes although that's an inherent concept in social media and a necessary feedback to see whether the content is being watched and how much. Nothing necessarily bad about it. I for one love what they did cuz their intentions ended up not being a big deal as the waiters appreciated it and thanked them profoundly for it. Cheers

@RuthwikRao

K Louden because why not? It's their job. They make their primary salaries from this. Marketing wise, you HAVE to capitalise things to stay afloat. He probably got more money than he gave but that isn't inherently his choice. What he chose to do with that money is important here and what he did was give away money. Simple. The act of uploading it on KZbin doesn't affect the waiters here in any significant way so that's not a problem. He uploaded this because he thought people would like to see how the state of minimum wage jobs is in the country and how money does play a big role in their lives. On the sidenote, me not being from the United states I learned about how the minimum wage jobs are and how people living in that space lead their lives. It might sound stupid initially but it speaks to people, trust me. It's a great thing to be able to see such stuff posted online. I don't have anything against your stance as it's equally valid so don't take this as a head-on issue. Cheers

I am in college but work as a sever to get by while in school , I have been waiting tables ten years as a single parent .. And in all the ten years the wages of 2.13 an hour are still the same and have not gone up. Choosing a job as a server is like picking out a slot machine at a casino. And you have to just hope and pray that people see your hard work and how quick fast and friendly you are. Truth.

because that's how it feels? being a waiter/waitress is not even CLOSE to being easy especially working long shifts, being paid minimum wage while constantly on your feet, doing multiple things at once, all while having to be polite to customers no matter HOW rude someone is to you. it doesn't even come CLOSE to easy and that's barely any of it.. and you don't know anyones story. they might be a full time student or trying to pay off their bills so yes a 200$ tip is like winning the publisher's clearing house.
