It is wonderful to hear how you have been moved by these various instruments. What a wonderful gift it is to receive and to play in the beauty of music! I'm grateful that the video was helpful to you and I hope the future walkthrough videos are also an assistance to your growth as a musician. If there is anything specific that would be helpful for me to include in future videos, feel free to let me know and I will consider the best way to respond in later videos. Thank you for your comment and I wish you only the best in your musical work and during your time both in England and upon returning home to the Philippines. Blessings to you (:

Thank you, Catherine, for sharing your thoughts about the lyre harp. I love that you touched on the mental/spiritual attitude on how to approach this beautiful little instrument. I watched many lyre tutorials and found that mostly what is taught is holding the lyre steady with one hand and playing a melody with the other hand only. The wrist strap you use is a game changer for any aspiring lyre player to start using both hands from the beginning and achieving a wonderful rich sound. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your thoughts and knowledge.

Thank you for your very kind words and for sharing what you found to be helpful in this video. It's my intention, in tutorial videos, to offer what I think might be most helpful for others but what has not yet been mentioned (at least as far as I seen, though this is by no means exhaustive) in other lyre tutorials which are often quite helpful in many other ways. So, your comment is particularly helpful in responding to that desire (: I'm also touched by the way you seem to have received the video, in all its aspects, with a beautiful openness and appreciation. Thank you for the time you've taken to respond with such thoughtfulness and wishing you a lovely time with the lyre !

Thank you so much for this! I especially appreciated the part about two handed playing and the wisdom about approaching playing with gratitude and wonder. I had practically no musical experience or knowledge before beginning the lyre two years ago, and I’ve hit the point where its simplicity feels deceiving: I can pluck out a tune but learning to do more is increasingly complicated! I will use your advice to help discover some of that early learning joy. 💜

I am so grateful that the video has been of help to you in this way! It was exactly my hope to extend help to others by both interior and exterior suggestions and I was particularly touched by your comment because of this. I hope your playing is ever-more delightful and that the two-handed playing becomes easier and more comfortable over time. It's definitely a journey ! Blessings to you

Thank you so much for this video. I was already starting to panic with this beautiful instrument but you have shared your help and different way of approaching it in such a gentle way making me feel so much more relaxed. My family bought me the lyre as a change from the wind instruments that I usually play and I'm looking forward to being able to let them hear how beautiful it is too. Again thank you. I'm so happy I found you online.

This is a lovely message to receive...Thank you so much for sharing and I am truly just delighted that the video has been a small agent in helping you to relax and to receive the lyre with greater joy. It's certainly a shift from a wind instrument so I sympathize with your feeling of panic at the change! I hope you come to enjoy the beautiful instrument especially as you grow more comfortable with it, and that you're able to share with your family as you desire. Wishing you all the best on your journey, and thank you again for your lovely words.

Brilliant and inspiring. When you talk about "receiving what's given," you sound like someone who has studied phenomenology - St. Edith Stein, Dietrich von Hildebrand, Heidegger, Husserl, Jean Luc-Marion. Anyway, this is fantastic.

Thank you so much for your kind words regarding the video. I'm delighted and quite touched that you enjoyed it and found it inspiring. Your comment about phenomenology gave me a little chuckle since I have indeed studied the authors you have listed (some more deeply than others) but it's been several years now, and I had no conscious intention of bringing their thought into this little video. Quite telling how deeply what we receive influences and forms us. Thanks again for the comment, it was a delight to receive!

Thank you for this video. To play the lyre with gratitude and wonder is exactly what I was looking for. I did not know how to approach learning the lyre but you showed me the way. This will definitely work for me. I look forward now to my playing sessions ☺

Thank you for the tutorial it was very informative. Do you have suggestion as to what app I could use to make sure my lyre is in tune when it arrives ?
@enfoldedheartmusic8 ай бұрын
I'm glad to hear you found it helpful. The app I use (and I'm sure there are others) is called "universal tuner' and I set it to "chromatic" in the dropdown menu at the top. I hope your time with the lyre is wonderful and feel free to let me know if I can be of additional help. Thanks (:

You don't play, you talk a lot

It's true, I share my small suggestions through speaking much more than playing in this video. Perhaps a different channel where the person focuses more on teaching would be a better fit for what you're looking for. I know the channel, @learningthelyreharp has some wonderful information. All the best to you on your work with the lyre.
