Enjoyed your channel! I’m trying to convince my wife that a circumnavigation is a great retirement project and went so far as to even start a little channel (@NavalGazingatCampDavid) to sell her on the life style….desperate times and all that. Lol. Thanks again for the great content. I have a whoooole new appreciation for the time and care it takes to create these episodes!

I wonder, would a better design for the impeller would be at the exit of the engine cooling instead of the start? Pulling water through instead of pushing. Solving two problems, impeller parts blocking system and water being pushed through any failing gasket into the oil system.
@AORD722 жыл бұрын
Why bother with having a generator, just have slightly bigger alternators on the two engines. Surely it is more hassle than worth, and adds lots of weight.

Best paint is of course copper coat!
@LabMariner2 жыл бұрын
We've heard good things about Coppercoat. But, you need to find a boatyard that applies it regularly for good results. And, I personally didn't think the copper-colored bottom would match the rest of our boat. So, it was a definite no for me.
@juergenstremmler22862 жыл бұрын
@@LabMariner you can apply CopperCoat like any antifouling. And it holds for 10 years, changes its color to green and as It's below water you don't see it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a33OqGyIastgos0

Just curious, would you recommend a survey to be done when purchasing a new boat from leopard??
@LabMariner2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I wouldn't recommend a survey but it is for you to decide. I would recommend a week long shake out sail with a captain who is familiar with your boat. This is your best way to find those small problems that a long hard sail will reveal. Leopard is good at honoring their warranty - so if the boat is new, any problems you find will be covered by them.

What paint did you used for the saildrive shaft?
@LabMariner2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The boatyard used a Pettit paint but I don't have the specifics on it.

You can tell from color if their is water in oil
@LabMariner2 жыл бұрын
Since the oil changes color during its use and also based on how much old oil mixed with a new oil, there really isn't an ability to see a water differentiated oil color. As I as I noted, it's easiest to extract some of the oil and see if it separates into a oil and water layer after a day or two. That will definitely confirm water in your oil.

HOW ARE YOUR BULKHHEADS ?? BROKEN
@LabMariner2 жыл бұрын
I think you're confusing Lagoon catamarans and Leopard catamarans. I am not aware on any Leopard catamarans with bulkhead issues.
