Located in Gaston, OR, this very large lake is well known for trout and bass fishing. It is stocked many times throughout the year and offers quite a few areas for some good bank fishing.

went to hagg lake 3 times, got skunked twice, and caught only 1 trout on the 3rd trip. can't wait to try it again when spring comes around. thanks for sharing.

No problem. I don't think it's been the same since they added the large amount of water a couple years ago. The trout fishing really suffered and it seemed that the snagging became a huge factor that it never had been prior. Thanks for watching., Good luck!!!

Green PowerBait rarely ever fails for me at Hagg! I've even watched my uncle catch trout with lime green earplugs here before

Good info, thanks for the video! I fish at Sain Creek a lot with my kids and usually have good luck with worms, but I will sit at A ramp on a weekday and try out some of your suggestions.

Thanks! Let me know how you do. Weekday would be perfect because the crowds should be minimal and hopefully not to many waves on the shore from the boats. Probably do okay with worms there as well. Good luck!!!

When using 3 eggs I'll shove it above the line tie of the hook and onto the line. I thought that was the point of using 3, to hide the hook more. I hope these tips still help me 6 years later. lol

Good video. Thanks. Where is this picnic area in your video located? near Ramp A? I am trying to catch some crappie late Aug.

Thank you. It's on the opposite side of the lake closer to boat ramp C. Sain Creek Picnic Area. Here is a link to a map off the official site for Wasshington County. Good luck! www.co.washington.or.us/Support_Services/Facilities/Parks/Hagglake/images/Hagg-Lake-Map-with-legend.jpg

Thanks for the informative video. I've tried several times to catch a fish but have yet to succeed. I even made a few fishing videos for youtube. Maybe your hints will help.

Run about a 30" leader line with (2 only) yellow, green or sometimes a white "Berkeley floating eggs" flavored in garlic. Sometimes I put two of the same color except for white, one white with a different color. They also have a double colored brown and a clear opposite side, work really good. If I use those I only put two of the same color, those look a lot like the hatchery pellets. Put a barrel weight before the leader, you will definitely catch a trout with that. When you get use to that you can use bigger hook and use 3 eggs. I caught 14 trout 2 weeks ago at Trojan Pond, only 3 were under 14" and biggest was 19", almost 3 pounds. My dad has caught a Trout at Hagg that was over 12 pounds, huge ones in there.

Hope that made sense, if not reply with any questions and I'll try and help you out. BTW, the huge one my dad caught was on the shore at Ramp A. *He just got his boat.

That's at Boat Ramp A on the right side. The water is super super low in this picture so it looks completely different. The lake is used for arrogation so they drain some as needed. It's actually a town underwater. They removed the homes but when the water is low you can see the foundations of the old homes. Crazy history to this place for sure! **There are HUGE fish in here!
