I noticed that you use quite a bit of air in an effort to get the material to atomize. If you reduce the size of your fluid nozzle, you will get better atomization without the need for such high pressure. I use an Accuspray model 60 with .09 😊fluid tip, and about 4 psi at the head. Lays it on thin, wet, and slick, without all the flapping pape

Damg i sprayed a new clearcoat today , and it was very thin sprayed at 27 psi on my dv1 but didnt look good. Second coat was slower and i bumped the psi down to see if it layed better it did but got some runs here and there . I normally use high solid clear its thicker , but trying to find better ways . The clear coat can says 2 med wet coats. Thats what throws me off.

My pure black S9000 RAL changed color when I sanded off nibs. Just to experiment, I tried to clearcoat the same on a test panel and the color difference was still visible. I used 800 grit. Would finer grit make a difference ? My teachers say finest cured substrate grit for any clearcoats should be 1200 to 1500 to ensure proper grip for adhesion. What is your experience ?
@mariopaintclass6091
@mariopaintclass6091 Жыл бұрын
Whenever I sand dirt nibs I always go over it with one more light coat. That way the color will be uniformed. And when I sand before clear it’s usually 2000 grit.

Great finish there Mario and some useful tips on laying clear. When you were fitting the 3M 2.0 pot I noticed you were pulling the trigger while it was upside down and pushing the liner upwards, was this to remove the air trapped in the pot? I normally fit the pot then slowly turn the gun over this will remove most of the air 👍 John UK.

akd052774 I appreciate your comment. The Montana pe2600 is without a doubt an affordable quality clear. It holds it's own against the sun. The universal clear is better than the montana it's thicker and more expensive.

Hi Mario, i would like to ask, after primer why can't i use 600grit to DA sand directly instead of 400,600 n 800? Also for the clear coat, do you use reducer in it at what percentage? I find HS clear spray out quite peely for my clear coat stage, so im wondering if its the gun settings or the clear coat is too thick? Im using Satajet x5500 rp 1.3. with 2 bar pressure and fluid 2 turn out from close. Thanks
@mariopaintclass6091
@mariopaintclass6091 2 жыл бұрын
Ntonytay thanks for your comment. You can absolutely go straight to 600 grit. The reason I start with 400 grit is because it will only take one sheet of 400 to cut the primer. While it would take more 600 grit to cut it depending on how much primer you're sanding. I mostly use montana big sky clear coat. I don't use reducer I don't use any clear that requires reducer. Just the clear and the hardener. What I always do with my clear coat is add 5 to 10% more hardener. A 1.3 tip is good for clear coat but if you find it's too thick try 1.4.
@mariopaintclass6091
@mariopaintclass6091 2 жыл бұрын
Also the 400 grit do a better job of cutting the primer texture completely out.
@ntonytay

@@mariopaintclass6091 thanks for the info Mario. Appreciate it. I always have a look at the clear TDS which is Debeer im using, it mentions add 5-10% reducer if required. So im thinking if the reducers really can help with the flow out of the clear and reduce the thickness of it at the same time. Anyway I definitely looking forward for more learning videos from you. Thanks so much.

@@ivanlebron2003 that's a good question I've only use 2400 once it didn't really lay down much different than the 2600. They are both acrylic urethane clear with the same description. The 2600 is a 2:1 mix ratio, and the 2400 is a 4:1 mix ratio. Not sure what's the price difference.

Hey brother, help set an example, we all know that even grazing the paint surface with ANY bare skin requires another thorough scrub with something that will cut through that, solvent based, alcohol&water, but not just water based glass cleaner. Those fish eyes are just dying to ruin your hard work. I once got fisheyes from apparently using a washed microfiber towel that had black stain from previous polishing on black car but had been well hand washed and then washing machine and low heat dry. It is the only thing I could come up with that could have caused them, seeing as how uptight I had been about getting everything out of the garage, clean and clean again, the works, but I did the final wash and dry with that “clean” towel. Fish eyes especially where I did the most wiping. Unreal. Gloves always when primer is exposed. Even sanding might not get oils out of primer without some prep-sol soaking in to bring the baddies to the surface . Never again I said after that and I have accomplished that promise to self….
