I run all three Devilbiss DV1 guns but recently bought a Porphis prd-715 thats blue just like that with 1.3mm MP cap for clear since my DV1-C clear coat gun is a little too slow on total respray work. To my surprise it automizes as fine as the DV1-C but puts almost twice as much material out. Its been awhile since I even got the DV1-C out of the box now. I ended up buying a Porphis PHS-155 1.8MM for epoxy,polyester, and 2k uthrane primer as well since I was so impressed and this new 1.8mm works better than any primer gun i ever owned including the Devilbiss FLG 1.8mm

OMG, just what I needed as I was totally mystified by WHY I had fish-eyes. Is fish-eye eliminator recommended? @ 6:15 I still see fish-eyes in paint bruh. I've witnessed a workaround by sanding and using a q-tip to infill with clear, re-sand, and smooth, polish the clear and it becomes remarkably unnoticeable except to a high intensity inspection and an expert could detect them, but from 3' away it is not noticeable. Another question: using the wax and grease remover produced very bad results requiring total removal and refinish. I wiped it off before it dried and was wondering is a distilled water rinse should be used and then tack it? AND what BOOK is that information from ???
@mariopaintclass609116 күн бұрын
@@anonimous2451 if you figured out the cause of your issue by watching this video, I’m happy to hear that. I don’t use it given the fact that I take all the necessary steps to get a clean job. If you’re painting at home just make sure you bleed the compressor, and use oil and water separated on both compressor and gun. You’ll be amazed how much of a difference that can make.
@anonimous245116 күн бұрын
@@mariopaintclass6091 I installed a separate cooling bath with a double isolation filter that practically eliminates any water vapor with a separate desiccant filter large capacity and a secondary desiccant filter as well as an inline desiccant filter with an oil/vapor SEPARATOR and spray at 18-22 psi but still get fish eyes. So my problem is not rectified but I'm exploring options. I even ordered fish eye eliminator additive but read it can present unusual sanding problems. As it is I understand having a paint booth, proper heating to cure, and all the other steps involved are for the Pro, I am a hobbyist trying to paint a few plastic motorcycle pieces and having issues with the primer bonding and curing properly, but, that does not present issues when done right, the fish eyes perhaps may be due to too high pressure? Should I reduce that to 12-15 psi?
@mariopaintclass609116 күн бұрын
@@anonimous2451 great setup. Fish eyes are born from contaminations on the surface that reacts with the paint. So your PSI is not the problem.

If i need to narrow the fan, i adjust the air knob on the gun and leave the regulator alone, so when i'm done, i just go back to full wide fan and full open air knob. You and brian like to set the gun wide open by pulling trigger all the way and turn in the fluid knob. I like to do it from full closed. So if you have paint in the cup, you dont have to pull the trigger to find wide open. Just memorize and count how many turns to get wide open from full closed.

Hi Mario, very enjoyable video Mr Teacher Sir😁those Porphis guns are really nice the ones I've had on loan were all normal tips but the split tip versions will atomise the clear better but there is always a trade off with this design and that is the gun will be a bit slower but I would take the slower better atomising gun any day as it will give you a better flatter finish, I like my WS400 Series 2 which is fairly slow for a 1.3 but it lays the clear beautifully so this is my fav gun👌 I will get the 717 when I can and I totally agree that it needs a digital gauge in the handle👏🙏👍John UK
