@SunConureDadАй бұрын
I feed my Skittles the Harrisons adult formula pellet. He also gets the Harrisons power treats for 'treats'. I'd just add this - the Harrisons actually contains ALL the nutrients they need and table foods should be used sparingly. Given that Harrisons is organic, all table foods should be organic as well in order to prevent diet problems. I give Skittles table foods very sparingly. He mostly eats just pellets. He'll be 15 in March and he still looks and acts like when I first got him when he was a little over a year old.

@PoodlesandParrots3 жыл бұрын
Hi! The breeder should be giving you this information on how much and how many times a day to feed your bird. They should be fed through a syringe and continue with the same formula the breeder used. I can’t remember with mango since it was ages ago now but he had formula several times a day and it was always luke warm. Sun conures will wean off of formula when they are ready some wean as early as 10 weeks and others might take 4-5 months. I recommend talking with the breeder or your trusted avian vet. Good luck!

Are budgie pellets and conure pellets the same nutritional value? I found the conure one is bigger and my sun conure prefers budgie pellets. He eats them but didn't like the bigger pellets. My bird is called "Mango" also.
@PoodlesandParrots7 күн бұрын
Depends on the brand! Conure pellets generally are formulated to suit their size and needs. You can still offer them if they’re supplemented with a varied diet to ensure balanced nutrition. Try TOP's or Harrison's pellets because they are good brands. They make pellets in different sizes depending on what your bird prefers or what size they are.

Thank you so much for making these videos! They are so helpful. Do you have any advice on getting a sun conure interested in eating chop? I’ve had her since June and she’s my first bird. I bought the BirdTricks nutritional system with really high hopes but my conure won’t touch the chop. I even bought the sprouting system. I finally got her to eat the pellets, thankfully! But when I try to just give her veggies or if I make chop, she’s not interested. Some times she’ll eat a little sweet potato. She will eat fruit, but I know she’s not supposed to have too much. Mango is such a good eater. Any advice would be super helpful. Thanks!
@PoodlesandParrots3 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome, happy they are helpful!😊😊 The birdtricks recipes are great, to help your bird start with sting chop or more veggies I would recommend a few things.. try making birdie bread you can also add pellets or some veggies in there (sneak em in!), offer veggies cooked or steamed so they are softer sometimes the trick is textures and try offering a mini buffet of different veggies and see which ones she likes or tries. Once you find out which veggies she likes and will eat you can work with those to make your own chop until she starts eating the seasonal recipes. Offer a variety of grains, beans, legumes, veggies to find what she likes😊😊 hope this helps!

How do you manage to give Mango all this freedom with a dog present? We have 2 dogs and just got a conure, and I'm worried he won't be able to explore and fly as much as he needs to. What is your experience like with this?
@PoodlesandParrots Жыл бұрын
Good question! We are super lucky with Lambo because he is not prey driven and just a saint! We always say he's an angel and when we go on trips or vacation our pet sitters always say "indeed Lambo is an angel" 🥰 he listens really well and had a lot of training as a pup growing up around birds. I have a video we did on this; kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIm7p6KYbNR5nJo - him & Mango were really cool and chill with each other and it was very natural but always supervised. With Mia he is also very chill but he doesn't care for her the same way he did for Mango. Him & Mango were really a cute duo!💛 Having dogs with birds can be dangerous and can result in accidents so I am very cautious about this and it's important to remember that. I would, for example, be nervous with a bigger dog around small parrots or vice versa a big bird like a macaw around a small dog like a yorkie. It all depends on many factors! I also have a blog and Instagram story highlight about this & Lambo & Mango were also featured on @lovimals - hope this helps!

There is no such thing. If you have a bird you need to understand they are loud and sun conure are one of the loudest of the parrot species. Parrots are loud pets! Oh my goodness! That's quite a story sounds like something out of a movie! My suggestion is to do your research on taking care of conures but I am not sure how the bird will do with 4 dogs - it is possible after all Lambo got along with mango and now Mia but Lambo is a small poodle and he is very well trained + gentle. I would personally not feel comfortable having a conure with 4 dogs I think it is a bit different when it's one on one and depends on many factors. Best of luck!

I would suggest this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3jcf2d8bdiMZ9Usi=u5K7mBO--iQg91rb and trying offering fresh foods and pellets in a variety of different ways! additionally sometimes birds can be picky, just like us and they may not like something the first time or want to try it but we should continue to try and offer the foods more than once, sometimes the trick is finding how they like to eat it! Someone else recently mentioned this as well and I wrote a blog that may be helpful; poodlesandparrots.com/blog/posts/i-can-t-leave-my-baby-sun-conure-what-do-i-do he probably feels comfortable with you when everything is so new, imagine being in your new birds claws a new environment, new everything and you are the constant and their caretaker. Practice some bonding tips but be careful with over bonding, some target training and set up some bird stands or bird areas with sisal ropes and toys so your bird can have places to hang out and explore. Snuggling and being affectionate with our birds is hard to resist but we also need to remember if we do it too much it can signal to them that we are their mate and we don't want that as it can cause behavioural issues later on. PS sorry for the late reply! Cheers!😊

I talk all about bathing in this video; kzbin.info/www/bejne/aniYc4yPmcRmp5Y including baby birds ☺️ if you bird has developed it’s feathers you can introduce them to bathing. Ps. It is important to note that not all baby parrots will be interested in bathing right away. Some may take some time to get used to the water, while others may not like it at all. You should always pay attention to your bird's body language and behavior during bath time to ensure that they are comfortable and happy.

Mango was introduced to bathing at a young age.. we would put out a large water dish for him and he would explore and then splash around. I have never experienced anything like this but if someone has allergies or asthma they should get checked by their doctor to see what they have sensitivities or allergies too (ie. Dander, dust, down, etc). Conures do not produce the same amount of dander and dust as other birds but of course they have feathers, produce dander etc so some people can be affected by this. If you do have an allergic reaction to your conure, it is important to seek medical attention.

I don't eat bird meat so I won't feed my birds any. I only buy cage free eggs. But otherwise I appreciate the advice.

Will mango fly away from you if you go outside???
@PoodlesandParrots3 жыл бұрын
I would hope not.. He has never in the past❤️ but I wouldn’t risk it again, anything can happen when you are in the great outdoors - something can spook them, interest them, predators, weather change, etc. It’s not safe & I prefer to keep Mango safe🙂 we haven’t trained for free flight.

I wont take my birds more than 50 minutes 😢as we don't get time... And my bird is getting violent

When birds develop aggression it’s usually something we aren’t paying attention too and a lot of times can stem from an imbalanced diet and not properly learning to handle our birds, the important thing to start with it understanding why the aggressive behaviour is happening, please check out some of my videos and I talk about this on a few podcast episodes as well kzbin.info/www/bejne/rojCdpuemL6An80

Why the audio for households is dangerous?
@PoodlesandParrots2 жыл бұрын
Do you mean headphones? Those have wires and can be dangerous, your bird could also get tangled/strangled by items like headphones.
