Your videos are so logical and broken down to such good bite sized chunks. I have my first reactive adoptee (all the rest have been pretty chill. ) she’s a terrier mix that just had foster puppies so the hormones work against me so I’m just working on positive binding for now and very long leads so she gets used to outside And a lead (she was a stray with no lead experience.) so far so good. After she’s fixed and puppies rehomed she will be able to concentrate more. Thank you so much!❤

Thank you for your work in general. Your videos massively helped as an unexperienced dog owner some years ago. Your content are zero BS, trustable and onto the point. Regards from Finnland! (You said, you lived in Sweden sometimes, so, former neighbours, kinda).

Emily, fantastic video (as always). Thanks so much for sharing. I had so many 💡 moments whilst watching this video. I feel this is one of those videos that should be on a loop in the Vets and pet shops. Thanks again. Have a lovely day. 😊

Makes a nice change to see other trainers supporting the need to pick up small dogs sometimes if the need arises - they DO need to be sometimes to stay safe in a big dog and a big person world :-)

If your driving in your car and it’s not too distracting you could listen to Micheal Shikashios Podcast on Barrier Aggression on The Bitey End of the Dog podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-bitey-end-of-the-dog/id1521311807?i=1000635799264

Thank you for saying that about sometimes you just have to pick the dog up! Will have to try that Wish maneuver for the future. My Beagle/JRT mix (30lbs) was attacked by 3 large dogs (2 Golden Retrievers and an American Bulldog) that escaped from a dog park fenced area. My dog was outside the park. All of a sudden it was 3 on 1. I didn't even think or hesitate, just dove on my girl, protected her as best i could with my body. The owners of the other 3 dogs seemed to be just watching, as I'm down on the ground at this point, protecting my dog. I just calmly asked them to please get their dogs (the Am Bulldog still tugging on my girl's butt). Luckily, although bit multiple times, it was all in non-vital areas. Good to have antibiotics on hand, vet visit ASAP. Could have been much worse. Thank God the dogs were only interested in getting the dog rather than me too. Michael Shikashio also has a great video on defensive leash handling skills as well. Hope that helps.

Awe I’m so sorry that happened to you. Of course you are always at risk of getting injured if you try to get in the way. Sadly. Yes he does. I’ve run into a persons back yard gate before to escape a dog with my dogs and prayed there was no dog in the yard I was invading. I also have practiced having my dogs jump on the picnic tables at parks

I don't want to contact a trainer because I want to learn to become a trainer after the bad experiences for horrible dog trainer. The thing is you learnt and so do I because I am the one who is going to be doing all of the work.

there are online trainers, also I worry about people doing it wrong and getting bitten so thats why I say that. there are so many people more competent than the trainers in their area to train their own dog, so i completely understand

Do you have any courses or videos or advice for training a dog that gets way too excited around people and other dogs? I have a 9 month old golden retriever that is really smart and really friendly. Too friendly. Any time she is around someone new or a new dog she will pull so hard towards that new "friend" that she literally chokes herself and will not calm down. I guess it's better than being aggressive around new people, but in those moments; I don't exist. She couldn't care less if I was disappeared from the universe. Mind you, this is a dog that normally has to cling to my side at home. Is there a course you sell or advice or videos to help with this? She's otherwise a great dog, but I cannot take her anywhere without her going nuts. Thank you!

How do I get my dog to stop barking at other dogs? He's friendly but he constantly barks at em. It drives me crazy.
@kikopup Жыл бұрын
That’s so frustrating. It’s usually just personality and genetics. The dog can get easily frustrated when they want to play or greet and cant. One thing you can do is just create training, set ups, where you meet someone, let the dogs meet or play or whatever they like to do, and then practice approaches and pass bys at first when the dogs been satiated. You can also use treats after they’ve got to meet to approach calmly on a loose leash. I’d also create two cues - go say hello for calm sniffing on leash and go play for off leash so your dog doesn’t feel frustrated that meeting is not time to play

@@kikopup yeah... most people don't like him barking though and think he's aggressive .. I will say he does play rough but he likes to play. He was supposed to be my service dog.. but because of his barking I'm going to make my other dog my service dog.

@@kikopup I love your vids but I appreciate your interaction in the comment section even more. I feel that you have great energy and I feel if our world leaders behaved like you: really listen to the needs of the people, instead of indoctrinating and controlling them, this planet would be a much better place. :) If it is genetics, would it useful for you to know what kind of breed the dog is? Hounds, for example, feel that they are born to make lots of noise, esp. at meeting and greeting. What about their natural level of sensitivity dogs are born with: front of the pack vs back of the pack? If it is personality, what do you think is the most common reasons for their behaviour/bad habits? For example: 1. Lack of training that would teach their dogs better coping mechanism in stressful social interactions 2. Isolation and separation from social interaction that might might cause the dog to develop social anxiety. 3. Lack of rules and boundaries at home which might develop lack of respect for the owner or even lead the dog to assume a dominant position. 4. The selfish behaviours and personalities of the owners who might channel anxiety, fear, frustration into their pets. (I recently paid attentions to dog walkers and noticed that talking and smiling ones => happy and friendly dogs.) 5. Lack of daily exercise, esp.combined with high energy. Do you have your own personal troubleshooting checklist?

Its called being cold. I literally talk about it in the video. She has a heated bed and chose to sit on my lap, I talk in the video how I should put a sweater on her. Epic will shiver if it gets below 72 degrees F and only pant when it gets about 102 F so youll never see her pant.
