Thank you Sir. This is excellent content for a newcomer like me. I just bought my first plasma cutter a powermax 45xp. I’m thrilled. I’ll be watching.

18 yrs ago I worked in fabricating signshop, steel & alum. Never run a plasma table, just handheld. I now am looking to build a shop. I need all the help I can get.

Great information, I really hope to achieve a straight accurate cut in our thickness range. It's tough to train kids on non cnc oxy fuel

I have a Powermax 45 xp. In the Hypertherm manual charts only apply to the maximum power of 45 A, it would have been nice to have charts for several range of power. To figure out the formula between speed, thickness and amperage.

When I cut 1/4 plate I use 65 amp and slow it down to 88. I get a good edge.

My Powermax 45xp has a warning in the manual that the esters in synthetic compressor oil can damage the filter bowl. Is this enough of an issue to require an oil less air compressor or will a coalescing filter take care of this issue? 60-80 gallon oil free air compressors are hard to find.

Use an all metal air filter bowl will do the trick, the longer a compressor runs the hotter it gets, the hotter it gets the more oil goes down line, use a coalescing filter after the particulate filter with all metal bowls.

I believe he retired after more than 40 yrs with Hypertherm, still lives in New Hampshire and does some Consulting work for them. He is in alot of the Facebook Plasma forums so I'm guessing that is part of his Consulting work keeping the Hypertherm Users educated or he's just a great guy and loves to help others...Who knows ??

Jim is a wealth of knowledge. I own a TD cutmaster 58 and it has performed flawlessly for 1.5 years. Even though I don’t own a Hypertherm I’ve gotten a lot of useful information from him.

Whats better air or argon for fine cut powermax 45
@kjb211614 жыл бұрын
air is fine
@tollav3 жыл бұрын
This is not like welding. The gas does not shield it pushes the plasma and slag through the part. Plus at ~75psi a full sized tank of argon is gone in no time.
